Tea Leaves (day 2852)

I came here to find you
So I wouldn’t be left alone
By the distance I had been to.
I watched the trees blow,
Long grass learning it’s vibe
And a bee finding it’s way
To another flower safe.
I came here to find you alone
But I didn’t expect to find you,
Since my omens whispered your name
Within tea leaves
I had been learning to read.

It Is Written (day 2710)

Written amongst trees
Were love letters
Spoken in crevices
Former bud joints.

Written in dried grass
Fallen and blown flat
Mounding and rumpled
Distances still remained.

Written in birds
Soaring up high
Flying in pattern
Collecting in unisen.

Written in biting wind
Words whispered as grace
Heart pointed fleece
Blessed for disguise.

Written in flowing water
Cursing of thy veins
Flowering of all life
Love found in Spring.

Ode to Coming Autumn (day 2690)

Your heart surely has emerged
Red, brown, orange seeds and grass
Each tree within the meadow glows
Floating on so merrily
Out in front of me.

Just as I can float away
Happily upon a thought of day
Your vision emerges out of mind
A lofty plan ahead, awaits.

Each growing breath of air
Sent from a new direction – North
Blows with it’s reminder to
Tuck away scattered growth
Inevitability of coming Autumn
I’ll prepare for your impending store.

A Heart Decayed (day 2669)

I wanted you to be with me,
Lilac in Autumn,
“Death do us part,” we said;
Death upon our doorstep,
Maple leaves blew at us,
Grass lay fallen all around,
Yet we held each other close
For no Winter gale could throw
What Summer had bestowed.
I watched as each petal fell
Each gross, entangling retreat
For which I had no escape from,
No secret spell to depart.
So there I lay
Crumpled, long past bloom
Decaying and so delicately
A heart so much betrayed.

Dancing Song (day 2453)

Weave for me two glasses of wine
I’ve sat here long enough to know
Two shakes of it that’s always good
Dance with me a little jig
To the circus show down River Road
To knee high grass, fields afar
Through frosty fire escapes above
That keep this city awake at night
Jamboree, say you’ll marry me
‘Tis right we speak so open free
For when the moon says good day again
We’ll switch to gin and carry on
I like your style, your silver hair
It makes me think of icy air
Get right close so to swing
This dancing song floats us along

Honey Bee Stay With Me (day 2451)

Little honey bee stay with me
Stay for tea and summer sun
Lingering here in Autumn day
Sweet harvest to where we roam
Toadstools, apples, tomatillos!
Hungry deer may join our cheer
We’ll find blackberry bushes near
A fruit so treasured by all who eat
Stained fingers with every touch!
Fill our bellies till we are silly
Roll around in thigh high grass
To the forest for a midday flurry
A hunt for salal and its fair berry
Garland for every arranged bouquet
That shall join us later as we sup
On lettuce and radish and beets just up
Found over, beyond the trees,
So stay with me, I’ll let you free
Wander over to the cherry, honey bee
I’ll find you just the right sunflower
To sit by, and enjoy delight.

Sunsets (day 2252)

Sunsets have come again
Chipping paint on my front door
Paint paint paint some more
Let me go ol’Loony bin
I’m growing wild to my back steps
It’s summer come to hem me in
Picking out my rooted joy
Chip-o-way-o-chip-a-maw
Returned again with knuckles raw
Scuffed it up till fingers bled
A little grass to dull the pain
Watching sunsets come again
Call me in the morning sun
Call me in the morning
Call me when it’s to dark again
