Goodnight (day 2588)

Can you cry to me goodnight
Tears so full of joy
A willow waves at evening crickets
My heart so free, ablaze.

When I hear the sorcerer,
Feel unprescedented pull,
When I feel a memory
Fade to unwanted noise.

Not lost, thought my feet grapple
At each root they meet
Tenderly I step my way
Back to say goodnight.

Evening Moon (day 2587)

I shared my evening with Moon
Who called me out to sing
Amidst the blowing wind, still warm,
Among ten thousand stars aglow.
I sang my song of mystery
That flowed as river flows
Caught in dramatic scenes of adventure
Tales of foreign lands.
Many parts were left as vague
To keep full truths unknown,
A meagre lesson amidst the stars
Who’ve been around once before.
My soul, it spoke through all the smoke
Allegory or not: truisms,
That called me off to bed at last,
A fair sight for evening Moon.

In a Letter (day 2586)

I wrote away a letter
Unmarked address with extra hope
It would find a recipient
That wished I’d be mailing soon.
In it I explained
How my heart had always felt
When I thought of her smiling
– A reason I surely had to swoon.
I explained of how the clouds looked
When I sat happy to daydream
She had sent me off with fireworks
Half way home, across Canada.
Then I signed the letter punctually
With my whole enunciated name
Ink splashed out my every hope
It would bring us to our peace.

Unspent (day 2585)

Dancing around the fire she went
In a dress so burgundy
Hair so full of life of her
Smile so readily frequent.
Each turn she whispered as she spun
To the suitor in her hands:
“I wonder how long this can last,
They’re too romantically inclined presents.”
One a taller man who cared
A good deal for his car,
The other a light haired maiden who
Walked her two dogs every day.
Then as each spin spun her
Her thoughts then ran away
Into the arms of deepening night
Flames still there, unspent.

Sudoriferous (day 2584)

I wasn’t sudoriferous
But then I found you
Golden moment of bliss
Sun streaks in ghastly clouds
Summer foliage in bloom
Like sweatened tea, my memory,
To a field with a cliff
And a fence and a bench
And a water tap found late in the night
Since the day I found you,
Turning me sudoriferous.

Summer’s Warming (day 2582)

I saw your presence in the stars
Pegasus and Andromeda
I saw your sweet eyes make their way
From Daisy to Burdock root
In long grass, hopping to and fro,
I watched my heart chase yours
Like a grasshooper of such pleasure
Summer’s radiance warming so
And of a Poplar blowing in the wind
I watched you walking through
Back and forth across the field
Exploring what I’m forever yearning.

Strong Roots (day 2581)

I’ve never known what lonely is
Every day that I’ve known you
I’ve forgotten about alibies
For you’re never out of mind
And like a leaf I’ve grown in to
As I’ve so long met you
Blossoming about so free
With hopes that by continuing
Roots shall mingle stronger, still,
With you so vibrantly.

Reverie (day 2579)

I fell into a reverie that had me holding on to rainbows I thought had melted away in the rain
But my leaflets floated warily through the sea
And a mountain of opportunity opened up for me with every tree I sow
That embarked rather hastily from the peak that had the view
Though growing rather rapidly was the darkness of dusk
My fingertips lay naked tracing out the fortress in Manitowaning that climbed into a canoe with a paddle and good cheer
Listening to a song she heard floating up from reverie
Then down she plunged the great paddle that took her off upon the lake
And off towards the campfire of what’s after sweet embrace of reverie.
