Ohana

Take me back there
Waterfalls and tropical foliage
Reverberating along my spine
Soaked with sweat
A deep summer hike
Wearing my clean eyes
And high tides.
I jumped
Like you jumped
Into the deepness there.
A riverbend
An oceanscape
A photograph I’ll always take
That had my ride
In shotgun
Prana, Ohana, sun.
And on the way home
Pure darkness
I had my imagination
Remembering
What I had not seen
A sloping hill
Into the open sea
Around the bend
And horse stables
Wild as I’ve never been free.
Don’t take me back to misery
I’m here with you now,
I am a dusty road sign
Still signalling the way
Upon a path
I know by heart
Ohana I’m on my way.

Snowy Vista (day 3123)

I awoke to find the land had changed
A gentle blanket had settled down
Covering what I could see
Sleeping in the trees.

Clouds had moved away and off
Left the day with a blue sky
One that reflected white;
Brightness hard to see.

So far there were no footsteps
Hiding all that humans had chose to leave,
This left deep peace upon my mind
Setting my regret for once free.

Pious People (day 3113)

Oh, let the pious people be
Let them be
They can carry the song
Let me free
And in the information rich
I shall love the respite
I shall crawl away
And gain the ground
I’ve never seen
For in the end
And underneath
A crawling seasoned spire
Shall carry on
As the last song
Dragon singing long.

Eagle & Me (day 3096)

Callused and painful
I’ve lost Eagle
Blown in the wind
It went so high
Into the sky
Upon a new mission,
Found a gliding wing
And left me here;
Eagle gone free.

It found me on
One cold night
In Northern Ontario
Blew in on a cold gale
Upon the torn up and buggered banks
Of Huron in a golden hour.
Like a mystic thought gone,
Eagle and me
Our fond memory.

Tender Choice (day 3082)

I’m resting in a pool of blood
Taken my very veins
No longer am the man I was
Lost and listless thus I lay.
Once I had dreams so high
Freedom wasn’t just a word
But way of life we embraced truly
From choices we made every day
And a mindspace free of ads.
We called our neighbour each by name
With smiles so friendly we meant
And let our hair go wildly long
A symbol of better days spent.
And in our work, we called none work
For we smiled as we took our crafts
Each craftsman became their tools
Towards a need fulfilled.
We lost this great desire for grandeur
This misleading pretense
Veiling over all of humanity
Since human has become ruled
By magnetic storage and liquid display.
We lost grandeur
And picked up gravitas
Our guiding star
Hands to our hammers.
But now, says I in earnest,
Laying in my pool of blood,
What hath become of mine choice?
So tenderly awake no more.

In Faith (day 3028)

And with that instance
I have faith to believe
That you forever astound
Each so liquid crystals
Running my core being free
And a heart
That limits no boundary
Accompanying no symphony
– Though music shrouds all around –
Given the magnitude
And settled
At the base of this rainbow
In full faith
And a tall effort
Emptying this vessel
For yet another day
Towards the space
That has always been right here.

Bedroom Windows (day 3038)

In Summer we wore our open Heart
So carelessly and free
You in your two piece
Dancing in front of me
At night we tore apart the sheets
Like two lovers with an unmarked destiny
And in the hours of early Morning
We drank our love in Wine
Then as Dawn began to wake
Our bedroom windows bled
Like Loons upon a still Lake
Taking flight into Night
One lone call began to shake
Each tendon of each heart that heard
Rippling through Summers past
And into Autumn’s deepest
Darkest moment of deadly sin
Until a frozen heart began
To etch the edges of every row
That trailed the bedroom window
And sent deepness far away
Beyond the walls and down the hall
Closed, and danced no more.

Sweetest Song (day 2997)

Sing to me your sweetest song
I heard you singing over there
Append to that a touch of heart
I crave for, like morning to start.

Should each new day
Bring me your so-sung song
I should fall into eternal reverie
At once awoke and set so free.

Long ago I wondered if
A bird’s sweet song could be sung again
And at every chance I so spun
I listened on so intent.

Then I heard you open up
With such lyric that touched my heart
At once I was deeply touched
And longed again: your sweetest song.
