Once and a while
To hear the birds
Sweetest reprise
Morning sunrise.
Once and a while
With tulip in bloom
Caught in the moon
Sail away my gloom.
Month: November 2019
Given Name (day 3105)
I slept on the bear
That woke up my name
And reached for the honeybee hive.
I staggered and shook
And stepped back three steps
And spoke my name backwards
Three times.
Then from my breast
Awoke a lone loon
Who sang as though
Fluttering butterfly,
But my loon dove deep
To find my name’s meaning
Returning two moons later
With pure truth.
And I sat still
On pine cone tree
Listening to the name I was given.
Deep (day 3104)
Let me loose
Gimme Gumchee
The river is long
Tides are turning
Each breaker I can see up ahead
Rolls like wind
Grasps at stars
And plummets
To depths below
I can’t see.
Come Close (day 3103)
I don’t know how to tell you I love you anymore
For every way I know of has been told.
There’s no light I haven’t seen you amicably in,
No space I haven’t felt your soul in,
No memory I haven’t found
Where I’d thought you don’t belong
And my song’s always filled with your name.
But the days that pass
Are filled with an unmistakable void
That is you not being here by my side
Which silences my song to every corner of my world
And hurts me like a dying star should.
Where do I go to feel my sorrow
That hasn’t already been felt deeply so?
What path can I take that leads me astray
To a new thought upon a new day?
Where are your words that paint me pictures
Of what keeps you far off, away
To put my mind in an infinite at ease
And understanding of what furrows my brow?
So I tarry and wander
With my hands buried deep
Shaking off the cold inferno,
With my voice, hardly shaking
Reminding me always
That it’s you whom I love
So come close.
Escape (day 3102)
Let it hold me
Dear, my only sadness
Again in the heart
Strawberry wine
For I was an Angel
Weightless
Desiring a purpose
And my riddles
No longer carried me
Though sadness,
Sadness was my slave
And I caught an escape.
Great Gong (day 3101)
But the Cowboys shared song
And the Wrestlers argued
But sat in Lotus pose
For Buddha’s great gong
And the Dope Smokers relaxed
In a cloudy haze
Frozen by mysteries
No Mortal Man could comprehend
And Ballerinas spun
Till the Moon sang to the Sun
Letting tears fall
From the closing blinds
And Jugglers threw balls
Higher than before
Not missing a beat
Not dropping the heat
And Snowmen melted
Because Snowwomen were hot
Like perrywinkle tea
And Bus Drivers slowed down
For the yellow crossing sign
Said Children
And the Taxi Drivers sped up
Because their Patrons
Demanded it
And the Stars sang goodnight
In their twinkling light
As the Moon crept along
With the sound of great gong.
Brown Grass in Winter (day 3100)
Waving
Seed pods and stalk
Resistance
Deception (day 3099)
My only extension
Roared of hypocracy
Idling in a low gear
Sunlight and one tear.
Yet the meaning rebounded
Off greying walls
That were held on by nails
No chance for escape.
But slowly it seeped in
With melting droplets
That rivers are made of
And deception is lost.
Wind (day 3098)
I believe you are the heaviest
Ounce upon my memory
Gold and glue can wear me down
But heaven within your eyes
Shall be my wind.
Eagle of Thunder (day 3097)
Days like this take me away
Floating on a memory
Thought that I had never come
Like a loom, a forever weave.
On a cold winter day
Swept up in a breeze
Frozen and exhausted I
Little crunching flakes.
Eagle of thunder
My holiest of unions
Breathe into me desire
Upon wings I’m no martyr.
