Run (day 3029)

I woke my memory to a fall:
Into a vision I’d lost.
No amount of recollect
Could mimic what I had left,
So in the absence of all fear
I effortlessly bound forth,
Gathering my wit and truth.
I sloped for easy ground,
Harvesting each neuron
For the dear escaped moon
To where I left
My rambling mind
Of each blessing I had run.

Ode to Ruu, A Good Dog (day 2801)

I don’t want to forget you, my little man
Though I know time will ease
What harsh corners left your wake.
I see your bounce,
Your lovely heart,
Your ever curious nudge
Jumping at my dangling hand
Across the yard in little chatter
As day awakes and starts again.
Your nose was really ever curious,
I watched you learn it’s newness
Opening for you an abundance
Across the fields you searched.
Our forest was quiet this morning
Moreso than ever before
No Ruu to keep me safe
From distant thumping of a small grouse
Crashing as you made your way
From one to another I could not see.
The dam I use to cross the creek
I remember the first time
You fought your fear and jumped with me!
How excited you were from thenceforth
To cross across and back again,
You’d run around and back and forth
Bounding with the joy of life.
Your presence brought us all alive,
Not a feat to misunderstand,
For since the day we found each other
The farm was changed:
Day’s toil was full of a scamp
Day’s end was full of a laughs
Day’s start was full of curious.
And today, Ruu, I miss all of you
For it was you who was so true
And tomorrow, I’ll miss you then
For your work was just beginning
We had plans for which you were the Keystone,
Friends for which you were the leader,
In short, a homestead
For which you were the center.
Goodbye dear Ruunikakonikakovski
You live in my heart
Though you are now free.

Sworn (day 2781)

I don’t want you to remember me
When you see daylight searching
Over twilight’s shoulder,
I want birds to scream bloody murder
Through their washed out faces
Long callused like knots
Grown out from tree trunks.
I want you to document my every step
That lives deep in the mud
Like you would document a nightmare
Scared of even breathing
For danger it would incite the demon
You most feared.
I don’t want you to remember me
For in your memory, icy cold
Shall rest my name, sworn.

What Makes You Relate? (day 2746)

What makes you relate?
Long standing waiting lines
Clogged with consumers
Looking for sweet redemption
Sold in packaging
Undeniably destroying
Their very fortune.
What makes you relate?
Big superhighways
Circumnavigating
Exhausting into thinning air
Precious cargo.
What makes you relate?
Hand picked produce
With an extra shine
Lacking all imperfections
Of the natural world.
What makes you relate?
Running yet controlled
Exasperated for thy hurry
Speeding in urgency
Crushing in ignorance.
What makes you relate?
Stuck with every freedom
Mentally destroyed
Perceived choice
Lack of ambition
Blaming circumstance
Crippled by fear.

The Heart of My Song (day 2599)

Did the heart of my song
Ring out to you wrong?
Wrote it down twice
Just to make sure I’s clear,
For lost in verse
Was my biggest fear
That reached down to me
From an overhead cloud
Grabbed on, brought on the sea
Right to my heart;
So torrential soaking
Left the biggest swell
Inside my song
That rang out all night
Into a saucer holding tea
Comforting me that I am now free.

Cry as You Want (day 2503)

I have called out the ghosts of my wisdom
Lay them down upon the brow of my thought
Spoke to them like a soldier at his challenge
And a mother facing all of her fears

Cry as you want for the sun that has gone
But tomorrow it shall come again, my friend.

Bend around the world we cannot see
For it speaks to us subliminally
A coward backs away from what wants to consume
Stronger yet is that which stands up with a raised fist.

Cry as you want for the sun that has gone
But tomorrow it shall come again, my friend.

Shall She Stay (day 2473)

I want to live into a better one
Where you don’t understand me
And my fear amounts to nothing
Since I’ve begun to leave droplets
Along the paths I take
With hopes that a sweet Angel
Will find her way to me
Where I’ve stopped dreaming
That my illusions will ever depart
Fog amidst the valley below
Where midday sun finds escape
Sweet Angel, shall she stay?

Allowed To Fly (day 2225)

Where are we allowed to fly?
Crimson dreams that set fire to galactic ghosts
Swinging too slow and forgetting
Each signpost leading us there.

And if words shant be strong enough
Let them capture the North Wind’s fury
Secret wiles of Mudjekeewis
Belt wearing naked bear slayer.

But let not the words of fear
Let our hearts float listless forward
Set wicks to our roaring fires
So we track each evening star.

Who then does this whisper come from
This easy touch of heart I hear
Say it slower so I can embrace
Evening’s wind through cottonwoods.

Is it not enough to lay here?
My opening is widening
I am not forgotten dandelion
I am resting with lilies.

Eyes Closed (day 1859)

I’ve been thinking to distance myself from the truth,
A constructed perception feeding off culture
Who knows the same truths.

I’m not there.
I tied my shoes and went for a walk
Along a winding trail and past calling birds.

But I am filling up with distractions
That keep me from my all in,
My wild abandon that no longer fears.

So I will sit still and run off my mind
And let happy dancers play their sweet music
That washes over my eyes closed vision.
