Senses (day 533)

Thank you for the breath that I breathe
For the grass that grows green
And then dies in the fall

Thank you for the eyes that give me color
Shades of the rainbow from the sun
And white from the cold

Thank you for the smell from my nose
Fresh turkey from the oven
And wet paint on a canvas

Thank you for the strength in my bones
That lead me into tomorrow
With every step that I take

Thank you for the touch at my fingertips
Dancing happily over exposed skin
Searching blindly in the dark

Thank you for the thought that I think
Setting my plans and my goals
And being blessed with love in my heart

Fall Evening (day 524)

Windows fall lonely with the setting sun
Gold shadows are cast through the valley
And yellow tipped leaves sitting on trees
Balance the deep evergreen with the
Dying grass, splayed deep into the horizon

And with the deep fall night falling heavily
the mist at the East end of the valley rises
As if gyros were actively spewing steam forth
From its guttural bowels in sighs of relief

One moment a deep gold descends upon the valley
And in the next breath an early evening dusk
Settles itself upon the livestock that graze
The giant fur stretch their arms wide
Before they fall into a long nights slumber

Sand (day 506)

I rolled in the sand today
Grinding my open wounds and sins
Together with the ancient bones
Dusting this light brown shore

It felt good, alone with the sand
Letting it tangle my hair
Frump up my conscience
Let free my deep breath of elation

I saw a seagull close by
It watched me in amazement
As I’ve watched it before
Seemingly unaware we both have life

Little crabs scurried away
The noise and vibrations to much to take
Water lapped at my sandy toes
Sun kissing my closed eyes

And then I sat up
Reached out for my lovers hand
Clean and refreshed we tangled in bliss
Moonlight came as we saved a kissed

City Row (day 456)

Peaceful serenade slips over my body like the cool morning sun
Lighting up each tiny hair that caresses the moist air
Memories flicker back and forth between last night and dreams
And I look cooly on as mother nature alights another day

Down below the children cry for hunger
Sitting slouched with angel dust covering their smiles
Walking silently, deep in thought the restless go
Another day has begun again, deep in the city row

Sunscreen on Your Nose (day 451)

I used to love you like a wild woman should
Full of youth you showered me in elegance
Holding me high upon your shoulders
As we waltz’d through parks

There was a time when I would sit by the phone
Waiting for you to call on me
I’d talk sweet words to my friends of you
When time would hold us far apart

Then, as hours turned to years
We grew up like fresh sprouts from earth
Quickly in spring, blooming in summer
And grasping to sweet life in fall

Here we sit now, asleep in the sun
No longer wary of our youthful exuberance
No longer conscious of voices around
Comfortably numb, rest in the mind

Where shall we go tomorrow?
Does it cost that much?
Do you have some sunscreen on your nose?
Can I have a sandwich please.

Sunshine and Blue Skies (day 434)

Sun that fights through the window
Pouring it’s heart and soul
Onto the precious spots of floor
Decadent and proud as it blasts
All the little spots with heat
Heat and rays
So precious to our environment
That life without
Is not even possible

Rays of sunshine
That warm the soul and
Put smiles on the faces of all
Who dare experience it’s fury
The sky that it erupts from
Free from any distractions
No hue too large
No white to charge
That smile from your face
That shine in your grace

Heat (day 429)

Soaking in the heat with a slow moving fan
Flapping the loosely hung posters on the wall
Shifting the status of the sweating hairs of my head
Into that summer kind of look
Into that salty taste that feels oh so good between the sheets
Iced drinks that perspire instantly
Leaving stained circles everywhere they sit
Water just doesn’t saturate
And complications arise when movement entails
Actually moving

Into the Dusk (day 423)

From out beyond the wind swept distance
A lone figure walks steadily
Into the day I dream a bit
Of what could be their mission
Perhaps it was to seek an answer
Perhaps it was to wander
Perhaps there would be no way to solve
This riddle, even living in the shoes

The figure that I watch go
Pauses every now and then
Watching up, towards the sky
As companions keep the way
And I, a bystander, silently cheer
While the sun continues to whip
Towards the West, the horizon: bold
The light we cannot hold

For there we charge
Into the dusk
The eyes that cannot see
From here we lurk
The empty land
As the sun it cannot fill
The marching time
Shall soon present
What then shall escape us no more

Confusion (day 421)

The confusion is like Clouds today
Perfectly shapely and full of volume
But unconvinced of whether they like the sun
Or if the sun has had it’s fun and should be sent away

It confuses me as I roll here
Along the sandy tides of earth and light
I step along the meadows of deep
To come forth with my own delight

And when the sun has further chased Clouds away
Green grass and leaves of trees do flutter
Shaking their selves to and fro
Pulling at the unconvinced rays of Clouds gates

Perhaps all that’s needed is to stand and stretch
To grow my wings unlike Creon’s folly
To learn from wisdom, and heed all advice
But lessons unclear confuse my direction
