Innocence (day 1893)

My innocence exists
In tiny bursts of firelight,
Choking on minute details
Of brilliance and twilight
Provided by sparkling stars over head.
But in confusion
I simple stared back
At flashes and smiles
Misunderstanding and
Enjoying the experience
Until I can have one myself.

Fireflies (day 1876)

Wondering how birds sing,
How sun sets
And blue skies ripple
With clouds so sensitive,
Yet so strongly ready
So sturdy
For days ahead.
I wonder how stars come,
How moon lifts its eyes
And birds see night sky.
So my head drifts slowly
And my eyes twinkle
And softly, evening returns
To the land of fireflies.

The Sea (day 1863)

The colors of the sea
Awaken all my heart
A deep blue curl
Magnified
By ten thousand hues of green.
A sea of waving grass
Filled with little flowers
Conifers too old to guess
From their battles with the wind.
As my gaze follows up
To the never ending sky
From blue to white
To darkend clouds
To purple and even gray above,
And then the clouds all go away
As sun makes its journey West,
So here I am amidst the sea
Guessing at my stars.

Dreams of Sunsets (day 1796)

I cried a sunset
Into my hands,
I wished a star goodnight,
I heard the whisper
Of a willow
In night’s softest blow.
And then a form
Like magic appeared
Before my open eyes,
To tell me of
A far off land
That I should visit soon.
But to my surprise
My far away eyes
Began to fade like sun,
And my soft start
Began to slow
As night I did behold.

Dusk in the Valley (day 1710)

Night falls in quietening circles
Swiftly crawling away in crackles,
And my footsteps leave traces for
Two days more
Until it thaws.

Just as Helios had mounted high
Upon our valleys Eastern slope,
He chased birds as frost’s glove
About, appalled,
Distraught.

So now we wait as new circles retreat
Into twilight’s thin air,
Blues to blacks
And a star lit map
Guides us forever home.

Another’s (day 1553)

For when stars play lightly upon my dreams
Shooting hastily into horizons,
Snapshots of yesterday’s blazing
Remember all that has been said and done.
I dare not blink, for ultimate knowledge
Leads me forward into the sky
Where one day I do hope I will also be left recharged
And playing lightly upon another’s dreams.

At Sea’s Shore (day 1500)

Wisdom is an empty sea
And I have gone too far.
I lost my rope, my sign, my star
To keep me mind at ease.
But in this dream my mind was free!
Not holding on as tar,
A flow that never was thy scar.
For if the heart pulls back to flee
The soul knows: nevermore,
Which leaves a man in misery –
A fate no soul should score.
So which of you are ready for:
The lad with eyes of mystery,
Or a maiden waiting at sea’s shore?
