Beautiful (day 81)

Lakes with glassy water
Sculptured clouds float lazily by
And a bee makes its rounds
Loudly buzzing to say hi

Sunshine, sometimes hiding
Soaking deep within
Smells of grass which I ignore
The itch; I am relaxed

A cool glass of lemon water
Lazily swinging on the porch
Soft music floats along
As the warm oven sings a song

Snoozing, with the pretty girl from the North
Even breath, tummy against my back
Flutters of a spinning fan
It’s summer again, let it remain again

*NOTE: again, I found another missing number in my catalog, so to make all right with the world, I changed the day number on this to fill in the voids. Sorry to cause you alarm.

These Dreams (day 176)

I want to run my hands
Along the coast of your heart
Down the ridge of your back
Along the peaks of your curves

I want to create these memories
Like sun baked carvings in the sand
Washed away with time
It was about the game rest assured

I want to traverse these cliffs
With the gravity of your kiss
Propelled with your hands
Gently urging me forth

I want to lounge in these valleys
Where the grass does grow deep
I want to lounge in these valleys
I want to sing with these trees

Lost in the Cycle (day 174)

Abuse me, like a well worn sweater
Worn down from the gravity of time
Warmed over from a cold wind
Fall leaves, slowly spinning
Downward, with the passage of time
Upwards with the momentum of life
Through, within, alive, growth

We live in blissed blasphemy
Secretly kissing the angels
Of the memories we once longed for
To late, time doesn’t wait
Downward, downward, downward they fall
Screaming for glory, one last moment
Alive, grasping, dead, cycle

The King of the Safari (day 157)

Wild wildebeests join formation
Crush the dust under panic’d hooves
Leave the grassland for the hole
Snort and grunt, territorial games

The zebras, like the wildebeests
In their striped uniforms
And rebellious mane, graze
The wild grasslands they graze

Vultures, with their crooked necks
Search the landscape, far and wide
For fresh kills, or hungry lions
With them follow smaller scavengers

The elephants, in their scattered herds
With the cutest young
Spray themselves, in the hot noon sun
Or roll, roll around in the mud

When the trees are green
We find the giraffes, tall and lean
Searching the top branches
For the choicest of leaves

The king of the safari, we all know
Roars the loudest in his territory
Claims his space, claims his clan
Guards his disciples from a shady grove

Of Squirrels and a Lover (day 156)

Decadent ritual of un-fretted glory
Somersaults and candles and baskets with lunches
Bubble baths and grass and glasses of wine
Seize the day, give not to thine fear

Wallowing in glory with squirrels and a lover
Smelling the air of lightly scented allure
Pretending to care the feathers aren’t ruffled
Knowing better than the vultures circling

The game is your own
The bat is a slugger
The ball isn’t greased
And the pitcher’s on change-up

Lay low, dear lover
Lay high, dear moon
Stay long dear lover
Stay bright, dear moon

In From The Rain (day 153)

Excuse me as I step in here a minute
Take my mind away, my load off
Shake loose this gripping cold
Retreat from this drenching wind

My, is that a copy of the paper?
Oh, it’s a very nice warmth in this room
I’ll take a tea please
If you don’t mind, a scone too please

Well, this was nice
I had a great stay
The tea was good
And the scone was as I’d hoped

But, as all good things
Must come to an end
So must I depart
And brave this dreadful weather

Le Chaton (day 131)

Aside I stretch
Long and lean
Inside I wander
Proverbial and clean

The glare a thousand
Yawns away
The feeling of hunger
Always at bay

The hair clean
Licked and shined
The claws they work
In and out

And you my friend
You feel so great
Your leg it brings
A playful date

A lap to curl in?
A nook to squeeze?
A friend indeed
A friend to me

Afoot Up High (day 126)

Wandering, wandering, wandering I go
Up and up and up it winds
Through the bush I gallop along
To the top, it won’t be long!

Crashing through the fields I go
One foot forward; keep moving on
The wildflowers here are radiant beauty
Up here so high, above the tree-line

The view, it seems, is perfect today
I’ve climbed so far, so far I’ve come
The top, I’m at, has all around
Valleys and peaks, and snow and lakes

But not for long, I do not fret
Soon it’s dark, it comes too quick
The path to go; a downward grade
Calls my name, and brings me home
