Old Cars and New Livin’ (day 294)

It’s funny how an old car
Yesterday was new
We face life so differently
In the race for tomorrow

With life comes sacrifices
We must make every day
Sometimes we’re conscious
Other times we lay slow

For true greatness
For an unspoken award
In all that life can offer
Where do we gather our weapons from?

In the lost arts of mankind
When virtues became known
There lived a great answer
Truth we’ve never known

In this time that has passed
We’ve lost a great goodness
Head over heels
For what tomorrow will bring

Perhaps in this game
As we look for the new
We’ll remember the past
Pull closer what we knew

Flow (day 261)

Perhaps it was the presence of time
That hurt me so much, as it crawled over my skin
Wallowing in the little holes
I had no knowledge existed

Perhaps it was the pressures of yesterday
That wounded my soul, as it kept coming back again
Infiltrating my every thought
I wasn’t aware of tomorrow

Perhaps it was the sun waking up early
That shook my foundation, sprinkling my morning with light
Contracting my pupils
I didn’t realize it moved me so

Perhaps it was the water flowing effortlessly
That put me into motion, alerting me of it’s omnipresence
Allowing me to flow with it
I didn’t realize I had any choice

..and Then It Continued (day 249)

I have sat here some time now
Working out my little plans
And sadly I grow weary here
Without finishing the details
But alas, there is tomorrow yet
Where I can fight past these lines
I will make the day all mine!
I will complete more than done today
Perhaps then I will rest
Relax in my findings
But until that day does come
I shall be back again in the morning

Sun Struck (day 68)

The sun has arrived
And here I am stuck
Alone in my house
Hankies surround

It’s ok for me now
For tomorrow will come
And I’ll be looking
To silence the sound

So I sit here in peace
Making my thoughts
Probably more like
Cursing this cough
