A Lazy Flower (day 2193)

I came upon a flower that I heard sing a sweet song
It lasted a whole day as I sat there upon a stone
Did you hear me coming?
Did I startle you?
I woke into a soft laid field buzzing of a wild abandon
My mind watched as it bobbed and hummed
A tune I came to love.
I hope my tear of joy didn’t startle you today
Though I tapped your tune onto my knee and whispered my goodbye
As day came on to call my hand
Home I sent away.

Jamboree (day 2191)

Display my song upon a branch
Next to leaves that swing
I’ve become a drop of sunshine that
Is flowing through each tree.

Be my smile within a bloom
A symphony of beaming joy
I woke here with such helpful hands
Shining through in every way.

Let my movement carry energy
That floats like a gypsy bus
Side to side and turning wide
Jamboree through each squeaky hub.

Ode to Morning Birds (day 2182)

Sitting here with inward thoughts
I’m drawn into a jungle
Roaring all around I hear
So many songs of earth
I hear birds calling each other
From North, South, and the West
I hear distant ducks searching in earnest
And chickens sorting out their rows
I see the poplars shaking morning breeze
And imagine how they’re filled
With little birds so cheerful
Each one calls at intervals
That synchronizes my heart
And fills my morning ritual
With a symphony of song
That asks of me so little in return
And I float away in dream.

Anchor March (day 2167)

Together we swing
On an anchor so wild:
A lesson in bloom,
To travel the world.
And when we wake up
– Upon a mountain so high –
We will carry a flag
As we’ve all learnt so well.
Our hearts are all dolphins
The sea is our goal
What we plant together
Will marry us our home.
Now leaflets and pamphlets
Cause us to effect,
Now chants and marches
Cause us to defect.
But this is our fiddle
And this is our song
Let us be the anchor
And we’ll carry on.

I Said Goodbye / Floated On (day 2154)

You know you were my everything
I tied two knots to secure
I had clouds in every step
And then I floated on.

You became a ghost of everything
I saw your shadows down the hall
I closed each book with tear stained sheets
And then I sang my song.

You let me handle everything
I knew it was your way
I signed my life upon the dotted line
And to you I said goodbye.

You now have yourself everything
I see your stones and leather shine
I broke away and floated on
And now you don’t have me.

Going Alone (day 2153)

Set off from here with a romantic lover
Wrote every letter
From my strongest hand
A heavy T started every line
To say I wasn’t going alone
I am a headlight in the getaway
Whistle like the sweetest bird
A beating heart, the legendary
Dance around, forever carried
And find the song to let it go.

Ancient Forest, Ranger (day 2142)

Walking through the ancient forest
I pick up broken sticks
I pick up what has left the home
To wander alone, to wander, Ranger.

Many times I’ve shared my thoughts
With wholesome handsome faces,
In a trunk of ancient bark
I sing songs of fallen trees
That show me signs of what has begun
In silver rays of spying lightness
And broken sticks below my foot
Though an ancient forest I remain.
