Warm Summer Eve Memories (day 1462)

Where have I seen you before?
I’m sure I’ve had you walk through my heart
For some time
With those light steps leaving such an impression.
Tha-thump tha-thump (heartbeat)

Your heartbeat sings choruses
That zig-zag up and down these zipper walls
Made for flexing, made for dancing,
Made for hanging by two hands grasping
Horizontal beams stretching side to side.

And I waltz on
With a memory of top hats and devious winks
Singing me softly
Into warm summer’s eve.

Polo Shirts (day 1448)

Rhythm is a magic thing.
Ebb.
Flow.
It takes the heart
And encircles it with
Falling Autumn leaves
And afternoon window shoppers
Dressed in
Late-morning-sunshine-yellow polo shirts
And walked-a-mile shoes.

Rhythm is two steps
For every one breath
On a muggy evening
Along a windy, ocean view
Pedestrians only path
In a healthy city.

Rhythm is necessary,
Just as long steady gusts for big bubbles
And late afternoon naps are.

Because if the heart takes a leap
And forgets which beat
Is flip flopping around deep inside,
Then all mastery of any subject
Is floating lifelessly away
Amidst breadcrumbs scattered for ducks
In a sea of slugs on a hungry Tuesday.

Saving Grace (day 1441)

Movement arts can break my heart
Shifting me forever more,
Until sun comes to warm my fun
With a source of everlasting.
But even then, in spite my reign,
I spit out glowing embers
That shatter reason and
Break peaceful truths,
Leaving the middle road
A piece of saving grace
I dare not tread to lightly.

Prometheus (day 1437)

Prometheus our heart,
You showed us your soul,
You showed us our folly
In our path: onward, ho!
And for what did reward
Thee heart and thee mind?
Endless prosecution
From our God of all Gods.
Zeus was your torment,
But you were our soul,
Our undying hope.
When we see a child
Hold a fresh picked flower,
When we see a dog with
Its destined companion,
When we see a sun rise
And the ocean flow,
When we see a bird fly
It’s to you who we owe.
Yet here in our busy times
We’re found looking out
Past our new ways,
Our new law,
Our new fashion,
Into eyes of distraction.
And to thee we forget;
Purely unjust in reward.
Until one final bow
My dear Prometheus,
May your sacrifice be for blessings
Upon your soul, mind and health.

Dripping Lines (day 1432)

I’m dripping lines in space: undefined,
A long list passed around and
Checked at each and every gate.
Wings have spaced my heart apart
From that which never fails to start.
Allow my breath to quicken here
Into a lens aligned to stars,
Which, unlike reopened gifts to her
Carry ethereal makers marks,
I spent my last dollar here,
And now I’ll gather my things and leave.
