In a Thunderstorm (day 2698)

Pop art killed me in a thunderstorm
There I sat alone
Silenced by modern lights
Suffocating though I drew breath
Yet unconvinced
Crawling deeper within
To the warmth, warmth found
In the mothership womb
Holding me, straight-arm,
At quite a distance
With mechanical arms
Ragged and worn
Tried all I could
Until flashes of light.

Lost Days (day 2604)

There are days when we get lost
Into windows of another dream
– A fraction of the cost
For a long line of never-did-try,
Yet even on the eve
Our bellies ache with unease.
Though when all is on the mantle,
We catch on, let to run
– Wild beasts become our name;
Visions flash before our eyes;
Wild nights turn into days of blood
Pumping through our passionate veins,
Which leave a strong mark upon
The rivets of our days,
Until, again, we call out
Through each windows we call our names.

Hold Me Back (day 2469)

I danced to remember a feeling I had
While roaming alone on Pier Twenty One
Music so hypnotic I had hardly known
Whose eyes I had met with, feverish tone
At first it was silent, the music inside
Spotlight extended to one single soul
Hair twisting sideways each time it lasted
Steps that soon took my heartbeat along
Hands that soon felt for my returning heat
I’m sure that we danced here, but all I remember
Is the way that her eyes would instantly flash
A smile that would curl from the side of her eyes
That took on a new beat erupting inside
And the night ran away as we danced, now, along
To instincts we found in a feeling we now had.

Innocence (day 1893)

My innocence exists
In tiny bursts of firelight,
Choking on minute details
Of brilliance and twilight
Provided by sparkling stars over head.
But in confusion
I simple stared back
At flashes and smiles
Misunderstanding and
Enjoying the experience
Until I can have one myself.

Exist Between (day 1861)

Where is this spot that exists between dream and reality
The viscerally imaginative soft stuff
That shakes shaggy ground free of complaints
And sunsets clear morning’s dew
From cobwebs shining as if testing new approaches
To similar corners, similar filters, similar dreams
That sit still and recoil while inhale meets exhale
And spring meets autumn
And one meets two
And a shoe gets worn through by impermanence of space
That’s always been growing up and chopped down
And eaten and fed and counted and weighed
And slotted into a spreadsheet marked with scales
Ranging from zero to ten with a save button
That creates multiple redundancies.
When the only request is for a tiny piece of convenience
For just one moment.
And in a flash,
With feet firmly planted securely on uneven ground
And hands held out in wide Namaskar to this beautiful world
A little droplet of rain shall fall perfectly
Upon a freckled upturned nose holding thoughts
Of a sunny day and all the rays of life shall shine down
In abundant warmth like a ticking clock
Chiming in at every quarter hour.

Ashram Day 7 (day 1410)

Hushed whispers echoed through the valley
As muted footsteps swept along ashes,
Detailing a history of sensitive environments
Through the House of Rising Sun.
Father’s eye floated open; another jest,
Another cloudy moment hushed visitors
Welcoming the flash of new life;
A new day.
