A Stamp That Became Postmarked (day 3052)

I wrote your name on an envelope
That closed and sealed with my mark
Long, long, short, two dots and two curves
A stamp that became postmarked.
I wondered there how long it would take
To find its way into your hands,
Would it arrive bent, curled?
Stained from a leak in a roller?
I wondered how high it would fly
Inside the bowels of an airplane
How cold those bowels would become
In spite the warmth so inscribed.
I hoped my meaning would be understood,
That my script legible,
And that each word that you would read
Would be read just as I had spoke.
And most of all, I wondered if
The return address would be saved,
So that your unique letter
Would be sealed
With a stamp that became postmarked.

Riverboat (day 2902)

Riverboat took away my heart
Big wheel and a little curl
Standing at the edge of water
Rolled away with the setting sun.

Lost my heart to a riverboat
She found a man and took my gun
Off she went, another hurt
Left me here and now she’s gone.

Riverboat stole away my girl
Said it was love and rolled away
Wore my shirt and stretched me out
And I waved at her goodbye.

For You in Twilight (day 2824)

Remember, my sweet love
I have not gone too far,
The softness of my hands
Still reaches for your bosom.
Caress my softened heart,
It searches for you in twilight
While this articulated landscape
Shows the plan
I have been digging for.
My letters are still written
For the tips of your lips,
Exposing the little curls
Found inside your touch
That leave me sewn
Into a journal I’ve yet written.

Toad Flick (day 2624)

I woke into a spidery mess
One that had me sweat and curl;
A toad flick had me by the mind
A rat nip had me by the hand.
And just as truth began to clear
Fog of night’s disguise,
A noise to my right made me
Start in pause a moment more.
For a dog of mine own friendship
Winked at me in patience;
Morning’s routine to begin
Commencement of a day.

The Bane of Fullness (day 2470)

I don’t want to hold onto this enormous feeling.
A Skeptic once said the past isn’t present,
So let us believe that a fullness isn’t real
(A limit we reach where we can no longer give, share, believe),
Let this feeling take us on a tenderness stroll
Like sheer cotton shading giant pillows we lounge upon,
Meandering through ancient streets and wild forests
Where we stop at every third park bench we pass
To sit closely and pretend we’re still consciously speaking
In syllables that reason can understand and explain,
For to me your words speak in gestures only my ears
– And perhaps the dear sweet Cupid who so cleverly pinned us –
Can fully grasp at, mingled so heavily with vibrant lips
My eyes cannot escape being entranced by,
And breath mine hairs can feel so warmly upon
With your gentle yet firm fingers ever so delicately
Squeezing a new pattern into mine palm of eternity.
I want to hold onto you, the back of your neck with softest of curls
As our lips mean to share what we’ve intoned of a feeling,
Forgetting for brief moments our shooting star madness
And living a while longer by the bane of our senses.

Ode to Darkness (day 1910)

Your sweet cloak, my serenity;
My forever once again
Lasting into comfort zen.
My vision slowly blurring
Into fuzzy warmth of my sleepy hallow.
And the day flickers back
Upon swift coattails of your speed,
I – licking gently at scars
To perform my holistic lobotomy,
Wrap my strong arms around you,
Curl my long legs beside you,
And release my control,
For you are my omnipresent
Singing so sweetly.

The Sea (day 1863)

The colors of the sea
Awaken all my heart
A deep blue curl
Magnified
By ten thousand hues of green.
A sea of waving grass
Filled with little flowers
Conifers too old to guess
From their battles with the wind.
As my gaze follows up
To the never ending sky
From blue to white
To darkend clouds
To purple and even gray above,
And then the clouds all go away
As sun makes its journey West,
So here I am amidst the sea
Guessing at my stars.

Backward Bend (day 1489)

I want you like a snake curls,
As a peacock never ends.
I’ve made a million signs to the world
I’m waiting for just one.
Truth beyond this harmony
In a street of mystery;
Forgot an innocence only
To play abandon in the long grass;
A misconception I have waited for,
No devil I ignored.
Head to tail in a loop,
Head to tail backward bend.

Snake (day 1258)

Snake is curling round and round
And I keep wondering how you sound,
Silent, slither, snake your mind
Nether regions of my spine.

But not here, master, it is not safe.
Your warmth is tingling but cannot stay.
My eyes they roll, they say I prey;
Today I run and snake away.

You are my habit, you are my warmth,
You are the curling round and round.
Little thing that wiles and worms,
I wish more moments just to play.
