Changed (day 2605)

If we brought to changing the world
Would we take to changing me?
Would we rearrange the clouds
To march down river beds?
Take for granted chains of time
Taking us each away,
Take advantage of Polaris
– Never changing star,
Take the dirt between your toes
And tell me everything else
Tell me of frogs chirping loud
Of early morning birds,
Tell me what you see inside
My autumn coloured eyes
Leave me a changed man
So I can change the world.

The Heart of My Song (day 2599)

Did the heart of my song
Ring out to you wrong?
Wrote it down twice
Just to make sure I’s clear,
For lost in verse
Was my biggest fear
That reached down to me
From an overhead cloud
Grabbed on, brought on the sea
Right to my heart;
So torrential soaking
Left the biggest swell
Inside my song
That rang out all night
Into a saucer holding tea
Comforting me that I am now free.

In a Letter (day 2586)

I wrote away a letter
Unmarked address with extra hope
It would find a recipient
That wished I’d be mailing soon.
In it I explained
How my heart had always felt
When I thought of her smiling
– A reason I surely had to swoon.
I explained of how the clouds looked
When I sat happy to daydream
She had sent me off with fireworks
Half way home, across Canada.
Then I signed the letter punctually
With my whole enunciated name
Ink splashed out my every hope
It would bring us to our peace.

Sudoriferous (day 2584)

I wasn’t sudoriferous
But then I found you
Golden moment of bliss
Sun streaks in ghastly clouds
Summer foliage in bloom
Like sweatened tea, my memory,
To a field with a cliff
And a fence and a bench
And a water tap found late in the night
Since the day I found you,
Turning me sudoriferous.

Red River into Thy Heart (day 2564)

Deceived again
I’ve fallen into
A rabbit hole of goo.
Spewing all sorts of muck
A red river
And a dirty shoe.

Down down down I go
A pleasure cruise gone bad
Leaving little bits of lies
Discarded, buried deep.

And then at once
Sky opens up
Dragons retreat, depart
Leaving dark clouds
Rolling away
And a softened heart
Becomes.

Overflow (day 2505)

I will overflow the river
I will bend down deep to fill my pail
And hurry to the side of my homestead
I have built this domain
With all I have
My two hands, heart, and family
And tomorrow I shall rise
As the new day unfolds
Ready to see the news
The clouds and trees
Shall blow my way
And trust I have the strength
To overflow

Sunset Field (day 2238)

There’s something here
Deep beneath heavy cigar smoke
And calming chatter of birds
Scattered amidst surrounding forest,
Fields ahead.
A woodpecker finds a hidden beetle
And mosquitoes my soft spots
Along this horizon vista
Of melding clouds
Half lift sunset brown
Leaning on golden white,
Half darkening blue
Of midsummer showers
Layered above the strait.
Couples lazily walk soft beach sands
Hand in hand
Creating memories I still have
That I douse in smoke,
Picnic benches of an earlier gaiety
Sit empty like grazing sheep
Full from a full productive day.
Elm trees, tall and proud
Find last bits of gold
Sun, cooling, has to share.
My lungs find air of a new found density
Promising foliage a cool drink
Bringing an air of calm
Beckoning me: surrender
Depth of heavy breath
As I rock my comfort back and forth
To a tune I’ve not yet written
In cigar dust of sunset field.

Golden Sun (day 2234)

Here I am upon the sea
Where two giants sit and wait
Singing songs to each their wave
In a shimmer upon the breeze
For with each breath they take
Comes a march of many soldiers
Attempting to take away their pleasure
Their big golden orb, the sun
But with each exhale their breath
Sent the suitors off again
Scampering along in madness
To find their legs upon the ground
So the giants sit still pondering
Each cloud that comes along
Wondering if it shall be
Married to the golden sun.

Reminded (day 2210)

You were not broken as I was;
Your only guiding star
Screamed out to remind me
Fresh as I may have been
It was never free to me.
Dark jackets cloaking sadness,
Salty waves lapping
At what you reminded me
And my opening held on to
Hands tattooed in braille.
Then your smile came,
Clouds parted,
And all that you had reminded me
Transformed as you had
‘For my eyes
Leaving dusty bits
Growing at the sides
Until you reminded me.

Window Drops (day 2171)

Along the ways of window drops
A bird flew out the nest
Cloud came to my very door
And my hair lay flattened down.
Yet every signal
East be at it’s back
Signaled me to rise above
What midnight I had not looked back.
Nor did my animosity
Rumble to a stop
A grinding halting dusty jalopy
My chariot of grim time.
True, each dirt splash lay bare
The deeper grit of sand
Which held my flower to my nose
Thus, bow down low I dearly bade.
