A Bird (day 381)

Today I saw an angel flying
It had two wings of fame
It spoke to me
In high pitched tones
It rapped about the glass
I held my hand
It landed close
The world was ours to share
But tomorrow
It shall return
I too shall sing its song of the earth
Memories shall grow old together

Pixies (day 380)

I dance the dance of a thousand maidens
Through the woods and flat lands with flowers in my hair
I’ve grown accustomed to the birds and the bees
Around here there is no more sadness

And with the ides of seasons that come
The winds they carry all messages I hear
Of love, of song, of fairy tales I deluge
Merry making I do wherever I do roam

Late at night when I rest my head upon the feathers
The animals all around settle too
We breathe a collective sigh and remember the sky
Stars, full of life, watching over

Answers (day 379)

I can’t understand the meaning of the answers I receive
Torn from my belly like the beast that’s suffered alive
Wholly ridiculed amongst the ashes and the saints
Saved by no one, and no one can remain inside

All around, as the children gathered to hear the stories
The red venom spewed out like an infection: unstoppable
All around the eyes opened like saucers full of secrets
Began with two loaves of bread, two slices of cheese

Throughout the streets the cobblestones rattled
From the distance all could hear the dull roar or thunder
Presses were laid, patterns were played
The final decent was begun, the line was rung

I Can’t Love Anymore (day 378)

I can’t love anymore
It’s been pulled from my sinner
I’ve played it through the wide eyes
Of innocent women
I can’t love any more
It’s time has come
Lost amongst the widowed brides
Thrown down against the rocks
And pushed out with the mornings garbage

For too long I’ve said I’d remember
For too long I’ve cried un-dropped tears
Left for the fall
Left for the hope of one

Dragons (day 377)

The confusion seeps in like a dagger through the heart
What’s the way out of this circular box?
The dragons they fly above in this night sky
With the demons that drag down this night’s sky high
The backlash of supernova reaches my spine
The acceleration has passed me; left me to die

Tomorrow I shall wake with a hangover to cure
The sadness won’t hit me until I step out the door
Lights, bright lights will tame my wild soul
While dragons will wait, night’s fall won’t be long
And in the moment when everything flashes again
I will stand tall and proud with a dagger in my heart
I will ride the tricked out pony and chase the magic hare

To Demeter (day 376)

Losing control like Demeter after
The deed has been done, Hades has been satisfied
Lost in a spiraling madness leaving no traces
Trapped by the pomegranate
Sensual fruit for two

But lovely Calithoe, with hair so long
And her thirsty sisters, encouraging her on
Put in the good word, for her fathers only son
Deeply effected, and enchanted the most
Control slowly seeps back into thine hands

But still fear, oh yes still fear
This hasn’t ended, rather just begun
Stones to be thrown, droughts to be brought
Remember the danger, remember the deceit
Throw it away into the rage of the fire

Till forever, till tomorrow
Until the rain comes again
Reaping splendor for the lands and the hunger
Where there in the end
Persephone will be free

River’s Edge (day 374)

The strings of love pull at your every crevice
Letting the edges stretch just a little bit further
Towards the towns that you’ve never visited
Listening to the songs that make you feel
In a way that you remember how you used to feel

Did you ever put down the crayons
Pick up the bullet
Let loose the canyons
And howl at the wolves?

I’ve crawled back into my tent one thousand times before
Like the thoughts I’ve held onto ever more
Tomorrow I walk into the night
Leaving behind me the silhouette of what I used to know
In a way that I remember how I used to feel

And the paint begins to dry
Sloppy spots sprayed off the pages
Canvas caked with intentional strokes
Drying up by the rivers edge

The Day I Let Go (day 373)

There is so much distance to run
I’m not able to get the first step
Putting down my pen and paper
Stretching the bindings into airplanes
Erasing the mistakes that last

It’s the hands of the friends
That pull at my soles
It’s the walks of this earth
That drive me now forth
Into the bends of tomorrow

I’ve agreed to melt the ice
With two hands fully cupped
Separated by a thin veil
Of a sunny day and bare feet
Perhaps it started the day I let go

Bloody Knuckles (day 372)

Fully loaded with iron fists of chance
Looking for a way into the new world
Looking for a breath of romance
Knuckles bloody with beating
Hands taught with the rings of chains
Guilty with the pressures of intoxication
Hacked by the curses of Mordor
Beaten by the eyes of the remedy
And soaking in the sin of the distance
Stepping over stones
Looking at hands full of soot

Hands, full of lines
Left over memories
Stories that need wise eyes to tell
Cards that stare back at the sin
Groove talking, sinister dealing
Mad man making, life(less) wielding
And here I sit, working with endless gaps
Pressed between my teeth
Like the random stones of time
Breaking beneath the uneven ground
Ground like flesh in the night

Foolish sinners who mask their pride
Lust will not await the banked remorse
Love will be lost in the ground up strength
Perhaps then the beautiful wisps of dust
Will float their way north
In an never ending spiral towards the sun
Gravity not taking it’s toll on this lone son
Green grass sinking in beneath the toes
Making the glow feel less awkward
Hiding the turmoil like a warm glove
Today will fill up the soul
