Bite and Bleed (day 385)

Your words bite into me like daggers made of broken bones
Listlessly bleeding me of all my aggression and sorrow
Helping to rinse my pride of all that which it’s built
Caressing the dark corners of misery: afraid, weak

But I, in my kingdom of madness, reign
These contrived abstractions do not touch my countenance
Neither do they oppress in their venomous ways
Cross my legs and clear the lonely stares away

How do you feel when you sit there and watch me bleed?
Long silky rivers flow steadily outward into the street
Licking the broken pieces of yesterdays past
Dancing like memories deeper than my own mind

Blood lust and hungry, we attempt to gather strength
From the evil words spit at ones we’re loosing grip on
Ignorant of the true meaning such abscesses hold
Cancerous attacks on our own thirsty egos

Hometown (day 384)

A hometown is only a long town
Stressing it’s good side from the other
Running the wheels dry over the lumpy tarmac
Pushing in the memories that keep coming back
Late nights alone hiding in the closet I’ve never owned
Drinking the liquor I’ve never bought
Holding hands with the dog I’ve never walked
And again, it’s lovely to be here

A Bike Ride (day 383)

The wheels as they lurch spin round and round
Against the hard earth laid down in progress
The path weaves, lights they flicker
The ride home is always this way
The ride home it always reminds me of beautiful

Along the way the road’s in patches
Rough roadwork rears it’s ugly head here and there
Tram tracks unevenly yell at the tires
The cobblestones they tickle the fenders
And the wheels they go round and round

Perhaps it’s the passing cars that pull you along
Legs pumping with jubilant glee
Forever left with a burning inside
Wind in the hair leaves bugs in thou eyes

Fallen Stars and Broken Limbs (day 382)

All the angels walk away
Leaving the heroes to pick up the pieces
Fallen stars and broken limbs
The world still spins upon its axis

Beautiful rhythm must also begin to end
It must roll its time and feel its caesura
The land my roar its silent beauty
The trees must hold forever their introspective gaze

And forever this girl with wings
Shall remember what deeds she has done
With fallen stars and broken limbs
Interfering on her plane ride home

A Bird (day 381)

Today I saw an angel flying
It had two wings of fame
It spoke to me
In high pitched tones
It rapped about the glass
I held my hand
It landed close
The world was ours to share
But tomorrow
It shall return
I too shall sing its song of the earth
Memories shall grow old together

Pixies (day 380)

I dance the dance of a thousand maidens
Through the woods and flat lands with flowers in my hair
I’ve grown accustomed to the birds and the bees
Around here there is no more sadness

And with the ides of seasons that come
The winds they carry all messages I hear
Of love, of song, of fairy tales I deluge
Merry making I do wherever I do roam

Late at night when I rest my head upon the feathers
The animals all around settle too
We breathe a collective sigh and remember the sky
Stars, full of life, watching over

Answers (day 379)

I can’t understand the meaning of the answers I receive
Torn from my belly like the beast that’s suffered alive
Wholly ridiculed amongst the ashes and the saints
Saved by no one, and no one can remain inside

All around, as the children gathered to hear the stories
The red venom spewed out like an infection: unstoppable
All around the eyes opened like saucers full of secrets
Began with two loaves of bread, two slices of cheese

Throughout the streets the cobblestones rattled
From the distance all could hear the dull roar or thunder
Presses were laid, patterns were played
The final decent was begun, the line was rung

I Can’t Love Anymore (day 378)

I can’t love anymore
It’s been pulled from my sinner
I’ve played it through the wide eyes
Of innocent women
I can’t love any more
It’s time has come
Lost amongst the widowed brides
Thrown down against the rocks
And pushed out with the mornings garbage

For too long I’ve said I’d remember
For too long I’ve cried un-dropped tears
Left for the fall
Left for the hope of one

Dragons (day 377)

The confusion seeps in like a dagger through the heart
What’s the way out of this circular box?
The dragons they fly above in this night sky
With the demons that drag down this night’s sky high
The backlash of supernova reaches my spine
The acceleration has passed me; left me to die

Tomorrow I shall wake with a hangover to cure
The sadness won’t hit me until I step out the door
Lights, bright lights will tame my wild soul
While dragons will wait, night’s fall won’t be long
And in the moment when everything flashes again
I will stand tall and proud with a dagger in my heart
I will ride the tricked out pony and chase the magic hare

To Demeter (day 376)

Losing control like Demeter after
The deed has been done, Hades has been satisfied
Lost in a spiraling madness leaving no traces
Trapped by the pomegranate
Sensual fruit for two

But lovely Calithoe, with hair so long
And her thirsty sisters, encouraging her on
Put in the good word, for her fathers only son
Deeply effected, and enchanted the most
Control slowly seeps back into thine hands

But still fear, oh yes still fear
This hasn’t ended, rather just begun
Stones to be thrown, droughts to be brought
Remember the danger, remember the deceit
Throw it away into the rage of the fire

Till forever, till tomorrow
Until the rain comes again
Reaping splendor for the lands and the hunger
Where there in the end
Persephone will be free
