Not Yet Done (day 2594)

I woke up to the sounds
Of a dog barking
Like a million dollar sports car.
The blue sky was making its entrance
To the brisk morning chill,
Slight pink,
And wooden planks reminded me
My work is not yet done.
So I stretch my eager muscles
Give the dog his food
And make my way for morning porridge.

Inner Bark (day 2425)

I’m turning over a new leaf
– Budding spirals green in depth,
Spring’s warming showers –
My lines have turned
My shadows shifted
My inner bark has begun to stretch
To where my roots know how to find.
This heart of mine has slept and drank
My eyes have wept and cleared
New toes of length have wiggled free
For today I continue blossoming.

Two Birds and a Beating Heart (day 719)

I haven’t slept since we parted
Open ended and unfinished
Sing songs of little birds call out
Leaving my thoughts rolling in empty sheets
Sheets of the same smell I left
On the pillows of your boudoir afar
But as I silently feel my heartbeat
Pushing numb feelings about the room
I whisper my mantra without hesitation
Embracing the morning sun as it warms my soul
While I stretch my limbs
Opening up my heart for another day

Le Chaton (day 131)

Aside I stretch
Long and lean
Inside I wander
Proverbial and clean

The glare a thousand
Yawns away
The feeling of hunger
Always at bay

The hair clean
Licked and shined
The claws they work
In and out

And you my friend
You feel so great
Your leg it brings
A playful date

A lap to curl in?
A nook to squeeze?
A friend indeed
A friend to me
