One Lady (day 2217)

I was a sailor broken down
Two bags of silver from the crown
One Lady yonder missing me
And two days more I’d run from ground
But even with a bag of gold
I called out loud when setting sail
For o’r the breakers I was sure to see
A land I’d not know, adventure to me
And surely a maiden calling out to be
Another Lady missing me.

Wild Meadows (day 2150)

Where the wind blows
My saddle shall rise
O’r the wild meadows she goes

When the birds wake me
My boots shall speed thee
O’r the wild meadows she goes

When the waves crash down
My trumpets shall shine
O’r the wild meadows she goes

Where the apple falls
My basket shall heave
O’r the wild meadows she goes

When the Lady calls for
My heart evermore then
O’r the wild meadows she goes

Siren Song (day 1700)

My Siren’s song was loud and clear,
Rung straight into my heart so dear.
A melody of which I knew
I had no choice as matters grew.

Little by little I worked into
My heart the song I’d sing till blue,
The golden Lady of the land
A Siren and I, hand in hand.

But as my Siren grew in me,
I lost all duty to thyself.
My eyes were slowly closed,
Hands soon swoll, toiled and blue.

She knew I had so much to give
Until at last this heart would burst
Upon the seams she so wove with
Melody so long, her Siren song.

She, however, would not let go –
Clutching, bloody, my heart would grow.
Until, at last, all writhing stilled,
My heart: milled, song: chilled.

Valiant Horses (day 1609)

Without a lying centaur
There is hardly room for flight,
Hardly time to come around
Into the battle ground

Without a thousand windowsills
Fighting to see the light,
I’d never be able to win a lady
Like eyes of my dear Queen Night.

Without a legend to run away
Into the darkest fight,
What good would valiant horses have
If days were love and gait.

Without a trail of mystery
What good would bows and arrows be?
If animals had thicker skin;
My time is coming in.

A Lady of Seasons (day 1170)

On and on the seasons chime
A golden riddle: effortless rhyme.
But in my rule
I’ve begun to drool
For behold, a lady of infinite time.

Get Out (day 1056)

I’m the rock
– Chief –
The Chief hip hop
Let be. Be
The 1-2-3
A hibby-hibby
The riggy rig real.
You. Don’t. Get.
You don’t get on.
The game, the play,
A blind Laid-ay.
Stippin, steppin
The nasty flip flop.
Cause I take,
A la boog.
Boogity wuug
Boogity wuug
Boogity shug wuug
LICK
Cause I’m the Chief.
The Master.
The rock-and-roll
Lock.
My lady,
– Get low –
My laid-ay says so.
And if you don’t,
You wont.
So take your talk,
And. Get. Out.

Dram of Poison (day 994)

A needle digs deeper guiding the well worn thimble on
Scaring dogs, singing and howling like Big Momma John
Like she’s snaking about a pale spotlight covered in sequins
Singing the whole time about a blue moon kissing her empty bottle
And filling each patron of the evening with wonderment

A quiet lady, sitting idle at the bar dressed only in pink
Clinks cold bricks slowly about the smoothed edges of her glass
Pulling at her soul for every single bit of truth she has
With high hopes that this very night will reveal all that could ever be
And harness her abandon like the piano pullin’ Big Momma John in

A mood envelops the patrons, sensually gliding from table to table
Touching far reaching itches only elation and jubilation can satisfy
Like the silver lining on a red velvet goblet
Deadly for all those unaccustomed to these desires
And final, like large Gothic keys hung around the undertakers neck

Please Me So (day 767)

Fair maiden there with eyes so clear
Tell a lost soul what bringeth thee near
Is it wild wars off over yonder
Beyond wild seas, a long lasting wander
Or has this land been the land of your fathers
This same land we walk on here a bit farther
For before my own eyes, a twinkling star
In all of mine travelling, yonder afar
I’ve come upon no fairer
I’ve met none more pretty
Then you, my fair lady of the fine woven silks
Your hair of such golden
As would make the Jews bolden
Your eyes of such clarity
Like a fine northern summer sky
Your features so pleasant
I’ve come to the present;
My fair lady before me,
Please me so with thy name

Ol’ Ginter’s Ruins (day 737)

There’s a lady I walk by-the-by
She drags her feet like
With hair out wide
She’s got an old black lab
That huffs and puffs
Up ol’ Ginter’s Hill

She ain’t much of a hill
But the ruins at the top
Make a nice place to stop
For a break and a view
Let my mind sit and stew
Upon the brick walls that remain

In front of ol’ Ginter’s ruins
Lays a meadow and a copse
Brooding in green
With a gurgling stream
Which I roam up and down
Day in and day out

Some days I go up
Above ol’ Ginter’s ruins
There’s a well up there
At the end of the trail
Along the gurgling stream
Where I listen to the wild

There are two paths
From ol’ Ginter’s hill
To the house where I stay
One weaves through the woods
The other: a wide rocky path
I always go through the woods

Steps of Another (day 465)

Night came easy to the lady with a laugh
The axe easily cutting through layers of clay
Laying alone with ten uncut jewels
The gypsy woman scattered her quest long and hard
Sewn deep into clumsy depths of a searcher
Calculated as if owned by magic
Laid out like one driven

She danced here in the bright glow of a full moon
She danced like the moment would never last
Eyes wide shut as passion encircled her
Long hair flowing in black locks sent deep into earth
Little splashes that crest over the dead still lake
And moonshine that shares all its planned
She takes my hand and we begin to dance

Flames erupt like night has never started
Towering ghosts watch silently
Giving their blessing with a nod and a sign
And music carries on into the flesh of night
Echoing off the walls of the walls
Pigeons swaying along to the reverberations
Slow arching cries that feel right

Did the night ever end?
Long backwards glances that stretch into the new rising sun
Strong hugs that last as long as they should
And discoveries of an imaginative sort
The only answer that’s already been spoken
Deep breaths that fuel morning stretches
With thick steel walls that decay as it rusts

Eyes that pierce flood gates
That held back pressure of a thousand years of war
Statues that caress the only sort of feeling
Allowed within walls of creation
Allowed within the heart of the pure
Laughing on the back of an ethereal Taurus
The steps of another that lead you home
