Ode to a Honey Bee (day 2221)

Your lazy way fills up my mind
With honey bags full and plump
So heavy that your wandering
Feels delightfully like a wobbly jaunt
Hand in hand again.
It reminds me of days spent
Lounging in floral gardens,
Where I, too, did float about
From yellow, pink, and purple too
Into deep recesses of sacred jewels.
You dance in front of my very eyes
Miraculasly grabbing hold of flowers
So delicate looking and forever blooming
Scarcely able to hold your weight,
Now stuffed so full with sweet gold
And off to home you go.

Reminded (day 2210)

You were not broken as I was;
Your only guiding star
Screamed out to remind me
Fresh as I may have been
It was never free to me.
Dark jackets cloaking sadness,
Salty waves lapping
At what you reminded me
And my opening held on to
Hands tattooed in braille.
Then your smile came,
Clouds parted,
And all that you had reminded me
Transformed as you had
‘For my eyes
Leaving dusty bits
Growing at the sides
Until you reminded me.

Toes (day 2201)

I have experienced this before
Toes pointed forward
Tongue tied
Missing little bits I never ever held
Counting down the days
To keep my mind occupied
No deadline approaching
No timeline to meet
Just anxious and mythodic footsteps
Approaching a number
That never mattered
But to my easy mind
Heartbeats and approaching dreams
Close my eyes and realize
An afghan is my sweater, again.

Waking Moments (day 2187)

Solid air
Colliding with my waking moments
Fleeting and palpable
And shifting listlessly through
Mountain streams and alpine trees
And rocky breezes and sunlit dreams.
My held breath seems to remember
What was once an immensity,
So unfathomable to each peculiar life form
– Gliding restlessly upon the surface of dreamscaped imagination –
Yet so identifiably palpable
With my very eyes closed
Facing towards the source of my waking moments
To believe in a word left unspoken.

One Long Om (day 2175)

A never ending line of whispers
Spoke to me last night
Took my innocent eyes
Shaded them with tricks unmissed
I walked along a grassy slope
With wind circling around my eyes
And with two short breaths
And one long OM
I sank into the ground
Here I found the largest system
I’d ever seen before
I made acquaintances with
Two oddly shaped rocks
And the loam between their mounds
Where slowly came
A wiggly earth worm
Who circled me twice before
It called my name
In whispers twice
And there I was in bed.

Played out Alright (day 2166)

When glasses are heating back spaces
And love’s been ticking empty pages
My dear
It’s been a long night again.

But when the moon’s light lets me
Hold onto what little I’m left with
My dear
Can I see the way your eyes look again?

You can call me when it gets you
Has it been enough to forget you
My dear
To the door that never lets us in.

Dance, like it’s been played out
And I will never fade out
My dear
Forget just how that moonlight
Used to rise and shine without you
And then it’ll be midnight
Alone, again.

I Really Want To (day 2155)

I really want to
I really feel like finding the motivation inside,
To reach out and scream,
To run until my lungs are burning
And life’s pain ceases to hinder me.
I want to jump and swing
And yell like a charging elephant
With my eyes glaring down
Doers of injustice.
I want to slam my fists in to walls
And flip over tables that seem impossibly immobile
Tearing down pictures
Smashing plates and pottery.

I really feel like seeing red,
But then I remember how delicately precious
Life’s wings are
As I watch a bird fly by,
As I catch the sun setting
Leaving behind a gentle golden gradient
Filling my eyes and heart
Until my inhale matches my exhale
And my toes tingle happily at peace.

Ode to Frogs in the Night (day 2149)

As silence closes it’s doors
And symphony erupts in scores
I listen attentive to
Catch each source, each hymn
Like dominoes it begins
First here, a call
Then there, and there, and there
Into what feels like
The whole lake’s edge alive
Conductor’s up, stage is set
Violins have all been tuned
To which my eyes then slowly find
Moonlight, and silence again.

Betwixt a Star (day 2134)

Let me thank you for your moment
For loving me for a moment
I saw it in your eyes then
I saw it in your eyes.

Like finding a new blossom
Betwixt winter’s long cold
Your heart rolled open then to me
Your heart rolled open, then.

Which put a smile upon my face
So deep it almost hurt
Together we saw a galaxy afar
Together we saw our star.
