Palms (day 3204)

What brings the soul of a man
Deep within the palm of his hand?
For I have seen two men astray
Neither I tried to save.
In the grace of our Gods
We stand before each war we fought
Did we strike the hammer strong
Or lose out before our lungs
Belted loud our souls devout.
Have I faced the pain inside?
Did I let my body cry?
Was it I who charged ahead
Though each wind spoke up in dread?
Tell me sweetly in my good ear
Was I faithful to each your dream
Can I be the trusted man
Of your every step?
For I hold my palms open
To feel the warmth of every day
I have spoken out your name
In hopes it leads my heart so true
And if it shall bring my life astray
May I be the man to say
My palms are wet.

So It Was There (day 3036)

I lost you in a golden moonlight
That took both of my arms
And let rise above my broken skull,
Trickling the very blush
That held together their sign.
And when the tone struck
An hour that hadn’t been decided,
I lost you in the golden lamplight
That reflected off wet cobblestones,
Making my feeling murky
As one could only hope to drown.

You’ve Got to Love What You Get (day 2670)

Sometimes it just doesn’t make sense
Sometimes you’ve got to love what you get
When rain falls, everyone gets a bit wet
And if the sun sets
You’ve got to get with what you can.

Like a lion’s roar
You’ve got to grab hold your charge
‘Till you’ve made it your own
Finding diamonds in stones
No one’s left out, no one’s left there behind
Not in a world where everyone shines.

So my mercy is an invitation
For your crop seed, perennially
Take it from me
Cause I was born here to bleed.

Sometimes it’s what you know how to do
Sometimes there’s not a question or clue
There’s an opening
Across the supporting beam
Made from the start
So you can give all your heart.

Ringing in My Ear (day 1771)

My delicate isles of sandalwood veins
Cure the goldest of sunrises,
Shaking wet last evening’s remains
With a cold cusp of fragrance and
Tracing spirals around my useless keys
That mingle symphonically
With a harsh ringing in my ear;
My dear lover, I meant to tell you.
And now I am gone.

Left Shoes (day 1091)

She’s backstage
And I’ve been driving,
Reckless I know by name.
Shaking as high school.
And I’m a virgin.
Wet dick and anticipating
Romance full of pretending,
Two eyes on a 4:45 am highway.
Nerves and highway straits.
Tight and
Six low balls
Running circles ’round my
Jitter-bug baloos.
Scutter-bug blues.
Ain’t singing sister shows
Nothing wrong with going solo.
Motown and their twisting tu-tus.
And I’m in a stinky ward,
And the girls round here like digging.
And I got a girl who’s a dig.

And If We Did (day 679)

If I were to stumble
Leaving days breath behind
If I were to turn
Sheltered from darkness
If my head were to fall
Eyes wet with pain

What would you do
As our hearts broke together?

If I left no trace
Walking through history
If I whispered on
In distant memories once dreamt
If I shifted sleepily
In a bed once shared

What would you do
As pages pulled at your heart?

If gifts lay dusty
Upon lonely night stands
If smells lingered on
In shirts worn well
If keys clicked no more
For letters of amour

What would you do
As time trickled on?
