Ode to a Maple Tree (day 1758)

Dear Maple, so sweet
Your heart is my nectar
To warm on the cold days
To taste and to glow.
But that’s not all
Of your marvelous fall,
For yellows and browns
And greens and oranges
And burgundies and maroons
And suns golden hues
Shall greet me in splendor
From your largest of limbs
From your gloriously iconic leaves
And float to the ground
In a rain of pure gold
For all to behold
And bow to your throne.
And in spring
When your life shall return
I anxiously watch each blossoming bud
Counted with pure delight
From the ground where I await
In the birth of your spread
In the mirth of your stead
And smile
As I enjoy what beautiful view
Always awaits by your thick
And porous and clunky trunk.

Sweet Nothings (day 1746)

I can’t take,
No. More.
I don’t want to take
Bitter trivialities
Into Madness
Cloaking an angelic voice
Like fog that rolls
About my brain
Before I’ve uncovered
Melancholy feelings
Resting just below
Its surface,
Reeling in abysmal horror
As toxins begin
To take to my veins
And surround my insight
With sweet nothings.

Great White Horse (day 1678)

Before I was lost
I once was a castle,
Strong and alive
Bitter and sweet.
But then a great white horse
Came and captured my soul

Lessons I’ve learned
I’ve gone and I’ve come
I’ve never been misplaced
I’ve always been free.
I wasn’t alone mom,
I wasn’t alone.

Give and you take
You live and you break.
You always make good
The word you’ve laid down
Cause come at the end
It’s you against the world.

Sweet Salty Kisses (day 1509)

I imagine you’re an ocean.
I imagine you’re so full and buoyant
That my hide is held afloat
Through this warm summer night.
I imagine your strong winds
Fill my sails with speed,
Sending my wake into places
I’m not looking behind.
I imagine you’re sweet salty kisses
Touching my lips,
Enlivening me to my breath
Refocusing my attention to the little drops
Left about my goosebump covered skin.

Long Tea (day 1362)

You had never been to London,
Though you worked a crooked game.
You had long lines of a lonely lover,
You were always on my mind.

There were singing birds passing
Sky high to be always better,
You shared thoughts of sweet memories,
You were always on my mind.

Your fingers opulently touched
Every line of each note taken,
Supple lips of secret sensations,
You were always on my mind.

Sweet tea of lemon ginger.
Black jeans with broken leather.
Foreign food and I knew better,
You were always on my mind.

Sharing Midnight (day 915)

Like it already has
I am on my ride
Through world by night
Where I glide, glide, glide

Spinning and whirring
And fabrics of gravity
Dancing, her fingers
Delicate to my touch

Sweet sips of laughter
Delightfully close
Who art thou?
Nay, why art thou not nearer

To the street
Brightly aglow
Feelings of danger
Renewed sense of triumph

Can you not hold me?
Ah-hah! There’s passion!
There is the fire,
Trust thrust from within

And by the midnight hour
Sweet sounds through darkness
Ecstatic dance, dance, dance
My fingers hold bliss

To my greedy eyes
Linked with your greedy urges
To your greedy eyes
Pulled by my greedy love

To a galactical quadrant
An octahedral ecstasy
Linking of energies
Indulged in pure essence; avail to no end

Miss Flower Light (day 665)

Oh my stars and heavenly angels
I’ve fluttered down to delightful petals
Can you match my imagination in colour?
The garden, it’s fresh
Spilling over onto grass
Roaming over mountains
With one tiny seedling
And filling our noses
Of such sweet sweet nectar
Harvested in spells so thick
Even sunshine pauses here a while
With daisies, and pansies
Tulips and violets
Poppeys and bleeding hearts
Such beautiful glory
For my days on this earth
Every day filled with laughter
Tickling my nose and
Infecting my colour
Spreading my wings
As I take dizzied flight
Lost in such intoxication
That float me on
Into the day of love
Oh my stars and heavenly angels

Memory Smells (day 541)

There’s a certain smell that works
That lingers around indefinitely
Feeling of home: thoughts, memories
It’s nice to be back

Things like this hit you first
Usually when the door opens
Friends used to say mothers cooking
Was the best thing about my house

The old work truck, shiny and blue
Still works. It’s a service truck now
Hauling around gas for the big guys
It’s got that western smell of leather

No matter how much I’d wash
All those shoulder pads and socks
My hockey gear would always end up
With that sweet smell of victory

When I crack a beer, one of my fathers beers
And a little white mist rises out
Only with the glass bottles do I remember
Stealing dad’s beers late at night

But of all my memory smells wafting around
I remember one that’s never returned
When I’d learn guitar in a tiny room

Circles (day 444)

Did you wonder as I made circles around you
How long it would last until I jumped?
Did you smell the sweet aromatic essence
Of flowers I crushed for you to death?

Long lasts the memory of ignorance
That curses through your veins
Sitting there idle in your own pain and misery
Distance grows the pain of memory
For those who haven’t landed safely

In another day that crawls upon me slowly
Love wont let me down again
I shall cry with the circling eagle
Ancient gods surrender now
