I Danced (day 787)

I danced like I had hot rocks in my shoes
Spinning in the cool night air
All around me gathered friends of friends
Fur tails and leather pouches and
Glow sticks in their hair

There was a beat rumbling forth
Striking notes inside my soul
Moving my hips in synch with beautiful people
Surrounding me, smiling as I spun
Watching the light play tricks
On the trees beyond

I didn’t reach out and touch anybody
Far too reserved with my mind about me
Watching the multitudes surge and fray
While the studs balanced upon their horses
And the ladies flaired up their feathers

I danced tonight with unequal steps
Shaking in weird beats per minute
Lights temporarily blinding me
But not a care in the world
With every note stirring my soul and
Shaking my knees with grooves

Pushing (day 730)

I roll around waiting for that shit to hit my head
Spinning relentlessly in this uncomfortable bed
I know not what has passed through this body
Just fumes and discarded waste left now
Memories that don’t lead to filled in blanks
It’s crushing, this deep sadness that spins around
The scribbled out pages of stunted thoughts
I work at pulling out words, but only vowels fall out
Shifting around uneasily like a shy cowboy
Fumbling with vices picked up from long hours
Out on the range with thoughts and dreams
I roll around waiting for that shit to hit my head

Drained and Bled (day 722)

Refined the madness will walk away
At seasons end to sell your hay
Share the sun, enjoy each day
But don’t get lost along the way

Then if the last straw be drawn
Finding you left standing on the lawn
No goods leftover to be pawned
It will be sorrow; all sun be gone

It’s known it’s fearful inside this head
Laughter spinning around the bed
The makeshift scarecrow: no wit, dead
No roof to shelter, no home to stead

But not all’s lost when wits have fled
A lone wild grouse found and bled
Enough to feed and safely tread
At least for a little while, to ease the dread

One Day Baby (day 454)

Some days you dance through still motions that float by
Dreaming in a sober state of consciousness
Gambling love with light with strange verses of mystical poetry
One day baby, one day

Midnight then and sweet calling from the other side of the bed
You move boulders baby and light up the tallest buildings
You change me like ice chases rivers; pure delight
One day baby, one day

Just as stars wave their goodbyes and pull into sun
Music turns to repeat and landslides stop spinning
Bottles drying up on the floor that never sits still
One day baby, one day

Ghosts now pass the clear blue horizon that stretches lazily over the hue
Wracking memories that have flushed away heat
Settling in for the long car ride home now that the winds died down
One day baby, one day

Spinning Circles (day 276)

I could light up a room full of lost causes
I could make my neck worn out
From the ever spinning circles
I could love the little light on
At the far end of the tunnel
But with all this pent up energy
I could never tear your heart apart
I could never walk alone along
The ever spinning circles here
The ever increasing boardwalk where
My pennies never fall too far
But idly standing by so close
Are the ravens and the hawks so dear
I’ve given them all my food
Now they’ve come for hair
“Dinner time was hours ago”
I yell from my twisted knoll
They don’t care
Or perhaps they do
It’s just the language barrier that overrules
I lay my gaze upon the maze
Spinning in circles out before me
I watch the masses
Gather their plastics
Make do with what money can buy
Perhaps share themselves some dollar bills
Perhaps watch as Cinderella waltzes
Her shoeless countenance slowly down the long stairs
I could watch her for hours
As she moved in her spinning circles
Up and down, and all around
I could walk up and hold out my hand
Perhaps it would change the fate of mankind
Perhaps it would turn our world upside down
The charming prince would never have known
The sisters would have been left alone
I could have spun my dear Cinderella
In spinning circles around the open streets
Watch as the pumpkins and field mice
Pulled heavily on the reins
Or perhaps in my new world
There would always be sunsets
No more sun going about its spinning circles
Just moments of fun
Judged merely by the growing grass
The growth of the beard
The interest in some rest
Or perhaps I could slowly slumber
Down a lamp lit street
Snow growing rapidly in the corners
No traffic, it’s that hour of the night
Pausing, maybe, to watch the snow
Spinning circles around the glowing light
Fluttering nicely down onto my nose
Perhaps there is a girl there
Hand stuffed in my pocket
Taking me in spinning circles
Around the blocks, looking for the best cafe
The one we’ve been always looking for
Dressed in our shades of black
Mod hair to the side part
We used to drive
But there were too many spinning circles

Fever in Its Haze (day 253)

From upright
To a 4 point stance
Spinning again
In this grand romance
With eyes that pierce
And a devilish smile
If it so chooseth
To come play a while
For, in an instant
Like the sweet curves
Her hands have made
In subtle murmurs
In this mesmerizing dance
A world can change
Joy into lost
Fever in its haze
Throbbing into lust

Gumbo (day 130)

A slow pulse that starts deep within
Reduced frequency, increased rumble
A pile of everything laid out to waste
A carrier frequency, pulling up the bass
Landslide that’s raced with all time
Records spinning and twilight winning
The dance isn’t over, the game isn’t begun
The words evermore, the length ever long
And daisies, pulling up from behind.
