Golden Eyes (day 2983)

Feline looking back at me
Eyes as golden slits
White as snow could hope to be
Puffed lips that cleverly pursue
Delights to lick upon.
Inside those eyes a softness
Always an open thought looking back,
Tenderness in each step
When good company is there, present,
But when the night’s hour
Ticks down another day
Footsteps become loud thunderbolts
Cat’s meow into the night.

Wondering (day 2899)

I wondered how many stars could align
How many mistakes I could ever make
I wondered if there was any way in the world
I could ever make sense of what I could not learn.

I wondered if there was beautiful symmetry
In the colours that lay upon Bumble Bees back
I wondered if Tree had the consciousness
To let out its needles and drop all its leaves.

I wondered how Weeds felt blowing in the wind
I wondered how Evening felt always chasing the day
I wondered how Birds felt calling out in vain
And on everything dust settles like snow and the rain.

Cold Stream (day 2792)

When the wind blew at my door
There I was standing tall
I saw the drifts of snow gather
I heard the poplars clack together
And deep within my cooling heart
I heard a groan so vivid
It symbolized the burden laid
At the foot of my days toil
It symbolized ice cold water
Gathered at the stream
And every step upon
Frozen soil with a cold shovel
It symbolized the sweat that broke
Each sinew in my back
To which I closed my eyes tightly
Forehead resting on the window
Wind blowing at my door

Fresh Snow (day 2678)

Upon the breath
Of mornings frost
Four deer parley
Just out the hedge
To which feels so
Nearer than
Long past dreams
Shaken off
Which barks at dormancy
Like soon Spring’s bust.
Yet laying softly
Which carries remains
Of late night travellers
Snow, of course,
That came so quietly
Floundered about
Biting at the air.

Snow Fell Calmly (day 2424)

From the depths I held a rope;
Coldest cold, hardest struggle,
Frosted reminder in a window.
A sister I once shared
Secrets every other day.
Shadow reaching to my hand
Take me, take me, take me again,
Spring is coming here once more
Where once snow fell to the floor
Golden brows caressed me
Arcs implying recollection
In a pool: my own reflection,
Looking back I see the signs
Take me, take me, take me again.

Snow Fell Calmly (day 2107)

From depths I could hold a rope
Cold from my very hard struggle
A frosted window reminds me
Of a sister I once shared
My latest secrets with every other day
A shadow that reaches for my hand
Can take me again, can take me again
Spring comes again
Where once snow fell calmly
And golden eyebrows caressed me
With arcs lacking recollection
In a pool of my own reflection,
Looking back, looking back today.
