Old Chedi

And so spoke the heart song
Softy renovating each edge
To include a space for memories
That helped caress harmony;
A state of living
That slowed down
And remembered to breathe
Like the infinite bliss
And awakening
Found while sitting
At the foot of old chedi.

A Claim (day 2843)

It was not my claim,
Not could it ever have been
To be lost with controlled madness
On a motorcycle
Going fifty kilometers per hour.
The roads were too dusty,
Too slow,
Too quiet for forgiveness
To be called out
In a manner that did not support
Each dying ember of humanity.
And the glasses were of the new world,
A signal for misunderstanding
– Modern mythological errors
Combed with a brush of the future.
I merely sat there,
I did not dust off the seat
I did not wear deceiving clothes
I did not paint my hair black
Or red or green or blue,
And my wings ever grew
Until I no longer sat alone
Accompanied by history untold
That whispered flickers
Of a language with no words
To my clouded eyes
Laid bare.

Cello of Darkness (day 2817)

It is hard to escape the sadness that runs down the edges of this window
Soaked and spotted by the dark rains, so.
Even Spider who comes to visit plays a long, slow song
Nearly a single note with a cello of darkness.
How tranquil such existence can be
Back and forth Rocking Chair sits endlessly in solitude
Grayed and white cracks endure long years of neglect
That crumble even the greatness they once held in Master’s hands.
I am looking for something greater,
Something with meaning that enlivens the pale skin
Peering back at me through the long window;
I seek its desires by reaching out towards the sheen
But no enveloping touch returns, no embracing moment of reflection ensues
And all that’s left is a smudge that diverts my deepest intentions
Towards a solitude that knows no name.
You don’t have to remember me to spread your wings so wide,
Though the wind catches better at one’s thoughts when it floats away just so
For it is here that there is no breath anymore.
It has been and perhaps once again shall come again
So it is here that I’ll wait evermore.

Foggy Mirrors (day 2601)

It’s a damn shame
You used to ride around with foggy mirrors
In my largely used mind
Spinning wheels that ran me up
To a hundred miles an hour
Your headlights were my exposé
Dangling freely from the eye
Of my rear view mirror
But now the brakes have been applied
Shifted back down to first
Greens and reds and stop and go
City streets commanding slow

Broken Path (day 2224)

When out walking amidst trees today
I found a broken path
That led me around a big ol’ fir
Three houndred years or more
I scrambled over wild roses
And a patch of red clover
To find myself face to face
With bark of an ancient race
Here I stood wondering about
All the years that have gone past
What have I touched
What have I called
Who have I known before
To which I instantly knew more
That deep inside my soul
The answer lay awaiting me
For not was I of anything
Held back was I to guilt
But for a speed at which I flew
That kept my needles dry
So each and every day I knew
I’d be challenged by the race
And my greatest test
Of each my time
Lay finding just one slow breath.

I Am Tired (day 2178)

I am tired
Like a sunset breeze
Bending thin shoots
On an old willow tree.
With every step I take
Dust circles out
From my heavy footfall,
And a choir of baritone singers
Follow me
Amidst my stretching shadow
And slumping aura
Saying hello to heaven.
My hands lightly rest
Upon a peeling fence post
Heavily feeling the paint
Crackle at my touch.
From this angle
From the seat of my
Creaking rocking chair
I look out over the grassy horizon
And slowly wander off
With a happy trailing thought.

Counting (day 978)

Let’s make it together slow, baby
…Tonight baby
Tonight’s the night
Turn the page into another.
A land of bitten numbers
And satellites florescent
If we watch together baby
If we watch the night together
Let’s make it together slow, baby
Tonight’s the night
Tonight’s the land of another
Where we will fall as numbers
