Cutest Button (day 576)

Cutest buttons sparkle and shine
A sleeping baby stays warm tonight
Snuggled in with reindeer and rabbits
Where happy dreams do fill the sky
In this young world, all is well
In this young mind, animals smile

I was given this customer photograph, and requested to write a short poem to go along with it for Minus40’s blog. The onsie is a Minus40.
Seriously adorable stuff.

First Star (day 553)

It is like the night, when the first star rises
When I look deep into your eyes
It is like the sound of the first splash of water
As the fun jumps into the lake
The calm all around
With instantaneous sparks of emotion
In a midsummer bliss

~
Naked lovers that lay in each others arms
Watching those first stars speckle the evening sky
The night shift of animals come out
Creeking along the hidden paths
~

Do you want to come over for dinner?
Mom will be making chicken fry
You won’t be able to stay the night
But we can watch a movie in the basement
Nobody will bother us there
I like laying in your arms like that
Do you like it too?

Floral and Gumboots (day 523)

As I lay awake stretching my arms into the night sky above
Tears rolling through the skies that collect in little goblets
Systematically sparkling in the moonlight
Perched upon the damp leaves that grace the soft grass beneath

I remember a fond time of innocence so many years ago now
When I rolled in virgin wool with one desire upon my mind
Not a single breath thought to be wasted in trivial pursuit
Time killed that messenger of fate as the dawn broke

Ripping those angels wings that shared with me deep thoughts
I cried without relent into the sleeves my dear mother had sewn
Passion and ignorance and dancing with the desires of wine
Pulling at the strings like a cheap shadow theater

Perhaps the dreams are the sum of my existence
The push that keeps me reeling at the sound of footsteps
And floral, forever floral with gumboots
Padding softly along with damp kisses on my neck that leave doors open

Lack of Desire Now (day 498)

I’ve watched the sky fall on the bitter truth
Smelling the stains that pollute the open womb
Spewing forth venom that lurches and aches
For one last passion that is far too gone now
Desire then pits the wound against the present
Shadowing all doubt with consequences once important
Laying bare the animals that sniff the freshly spilled blood
Pooling into the depths only the brave and stupid dare

..and beyond this lays a land so golden
That nothing else matters there
No other parts compile into the whole
Except that which is already set and inside
Here there are natural colors
Colors that blend so well into nature
That blinded by the cosmos
Everything makes sense
No more open wounds and rotting corpses
No more time delays or boxes to move
Just parts of golden rays of sunshine
Grandma, I’m home now

Wild Coyote Howls (day 436)

When you got freckles like that
There ain’t nothing going wrong
The devil himself
Has got eyes that long
And the world that spins
Skips a beat as you dance
When you got freckles like that
There ain’t nothing going wrong

When you got hips that move
Like a good girls should
There’s bound to be a groove
That lasts so long
With hands held high
You can touch the sky
When you got hips that move
Like a good girls should

When you shoot that grin
There’s a wild coyote that howls
Like mother natures sin
It’s good to dig deeper
When it lasts like a memory
Clutched to the bosom
When you shoot that grin
There’s a wild coyote that howls

Sunshine and Blue Skies (day 434)

Sun that fights through the window
Pouring it’s heart and soul
Onto the precious spots of floor
Decadent and proud as it blasts
All the little spots with heat
Heat and rays
So precious to our environment
That life without
Is not even possible

Rays of sunshine
That warm the soul and
Put smiles on the faces of all
Who dare experience it’s fury
The sky that it erupts from
Free from any distractions
No hue too large
No white to charge
That smile from your face
That shine in your grace

Into the Dusk (day 423)

From out beyond the wind swept distance
A lone figure walks steadily
Into the day I dream a bit
Of what could be their mission
Perhaps it was to seek an answer
Perhaps it was to wander
Perhaps there would be no way to solve
This riddle, even living in the shoes

The figure that I watch go
Pauses every now and then
Watching up, towards the sky
As companions keep the way
And I, a bystander, silently cheer
While the sun continues to whip
Towards the West, the horizon: bold
The light we cannot hold

For there we charge
Into the dusk
The eyes that cannot see
From here we lurk
The empty land
As the sun it cannot fill
The marching time
Shall soon present
What then shall escape us no more

First Horn (day 367)

The serene beauty caresses my being
I watch it from ten houndred meters in the sky
Rising sun catches a glimpse of a bird
Making it’s way further into the day

The trees hardly move now
At this mornings early calm
The rabbits hop slowly
Shaking off the freshly set dew

The clouds they are heavenly
Parting here and there for blue sky
Perhaps the starling will fly today
Screeching into the sky

Breakfast is a faint smell away
Lingering like a fond memory
Today is beginning now
I hear the day’s first horn

A Perfect Sin (day 59)

Today has been a day of love
A day of passing and of ever lasting
Today has been a day to record
All I’ve thought of, all that’s passed

I’ve been to the moon,
And I’ve sailed right back
I’ve followed a star
As it raced through the sky

Today I lost a little letter
That read like vanilla upon smooth silk
It fell between the whispered promises
That left a stain on glittered premises

I’ve held onto sympathetic angels
But like grasping at air
I’ve witnessed them crashing
As I’ve called out their names

Today I threaded with the devil’s needle
It felt like I sinned
Today I couldn’t help smiling
I’ve lived a little, and boy it sure feels good.
