Today I watched a piece of grass
Leftover from last Autumn
Blow about its stalky stout
In early morning Wind,
As it had so clearly done
Manys a time before.
It bent at its very base
Roots that held it strong,
Coupled there to the Earth
Untrained and unsung.

Jungle Buffalo (day 3155)
Running through the jungle softly
Footsteps over bare roots
Caught a glimpse of bright feathers
Flutter deep says the heart.
Spider webs and sticky vines
Leading through an ancient path
Wondering which local animals do use
Which beasts could one ever hope to see?
Wild pigs roam here, so vicious they
Could tear this fluttering heart so bare.
And staring up, far above,
Towards the canopy so green, so deep,
One faintly remembers where the sky
Once a hallmark of the stars
Looked like upon an open campfire
Many meters away
Upon great plains of Canada
Where the buffalo used to roam.
Thy Mount (day 3075)
My beacon holds the glow
That once stood atop the mount,
A formal cry of devilry
No subject left unexplored.
Thunderous and magnified
By the distant mounts so tall,
Open and expansive
I felt forever I could soar.
Now, suffice to say
I have left the peaks so high
To stumble as I make my ground
‘Midst roots and usnea.
Though I keep my eye so high
I watch Eagle soar,
Each and every morning I bid
Mount so high good morn.
Amidst (day 2992)
I feel the river never ends;
Long winding staircases
Of mossy rocks and exposed roots,
Craigs and juts and ferns so full,
Over and around it goes.
I feel the distance is all the same;
Each step a galaxy
Lost into mycelium
Softened by depth of lichen,
A tangle of Gaia’s webbing.
I feel the air is more dense now;
Little sweat drips
Against breath stirring easily,
Amidst dancing ents and forgotten witches
Softly reminding me.
Root of Man (day 2853)
The root of man shall be no different
Then the root of every tree
Growing wildly as advantageous
Over rocks upon the ground.
Each mystery of a turn
Formation of a bud
Callus of a wound, deep
Shimmering in the sun.
As seasons take their tide
Summer turns to Autumn
Transformational energy
Harvest moon howls night.
Upon My Stay (day 2752)
It excites me
To work each day
Hard upon my stay
A ration here
A ration there
All good things in time
For the field
A root or two
A cleft of grass, too
And patiently
From such small stock
Watch a seedling
Grow to tall
Whereby in time
A harvest comes
All beneath the sun.
Delay the Day (day 2691)
Delay the day, gone away
I’m missing my river roots
Dirt lessons I swam in to
I caught the biggest fish
That took back what I had thrown
Surprises out to sea
Moonshine and a little gin
Kept me warm within
Sitting on a rock so thin
I danced into another.
Untouchable (day 2680)
Let us be the untouchable
Run wild through monumental backdrops
River flowing freely
Let us be the untamed
The fear left in shaking hearts
Icicles running clear
Let us glean our sweat
Upon backs of deep gray rocks
Ancient fungi crawling closer
Let our roots be forever deep
And our height, untouchable
Goodnight (day 2588)
Can you cry to me goodnight
Tears so full of joy
A willow waves at evening crickets
My heart so free, ablaze.
When I hear the sorcerer,
Feel unprescedented pull,
When I feel a memory
Fade to unwanted noise.
Not lost, thought my feet grapple
At each root they meet
Tenderly I step my way
Back to say goodnight.
