Monument (day 2325)

At long last
After years of toil
Relentless servants
Of the North Sea Queen
Finished
A monument of the cold
Ravishingly cold Queen.
She screamed the orders
Barked out commands
And had off with those
Who balked at her plan.
A siren had come
And tempted her faithful
Who lasted no more
Then five nights
With what Faithful remains
– No chance –
The siren had blown
Such a warm summer’s wind
Down the back of Faithful
To what ends, no more.
Hearing the uproar
Amongst chattering icicles
The Ice of the North Sea
Knew everything devious.
Off she marched
With ten thousand souls
She commanded an army
To find the rogue, un-Faithful.
Aghast, in the midst
Of passion, enflamed
Engulfed the North Sea Queen
With icy cold madness
Catching in mid stride
Works of a lover
To be sentenced to eternity;
A monument remains.

Two Shiny Stones (day 2317)

I got a letter from my soul today
Asked me where I had been staying
I shared about my secret lover
Said she couldn’t stay
I wept until my eyes bled ice
I shrunk into the sea
Where then to begin?
– Until my heart clouded winter
Lost into the sea –
I surfaced as two shiny stones
Held in one Danish hand
Wrapped in softness, unbeknownst
Settling beyond, over me.

Midnight Rubies (day 2277)

She had rubies that dangled down
To the hips that stole each heart
Cigarette was midnight in each look
She cast into the night.
She called to a lover down on the street
Who looked up and knew her name
He said: “My dear how are you there?
It has been a long long time.”
Then off into the night the taxi rolled away
And two strangers emerged
Locked arm in arm as they strolled.
She had rubies that dangled down
To the hips that stole each heart
And as she walked around her room
A record playing a good song
She pretended she was dancing at a ball
In a lost time, enchanted
She thought about writing a letter to
A friend she’d never met.
She had rubies that dangled down
To the hips that stole each heart
And every time she she shared her name
It changed into a vision
That soon wafted into the night
And all around was cobblestones
An empty café unattended though open
Where, listening, the open windows
Learned her every midnight name.

Moonlight Song (day 2222)

My moonlight is a July glow
Songs never last long enough
Training has led me to forget
Yet home I remain strong

Forgive me two more kisses
That we share eternity in
I see clearly through darkness
Two lovers anti-row

Please mumble me another tune
Or the same one on and on
I desire more your symphony
Depths of moonlight song

Going Alone (day 2153)

Set off from here with a romantic lover
Wrote every letter
From my strongest hand
A heavy T started every line
To say I wasn’t going alone
I am a headlight in the getaway
Whistle like the sweetest bird
A beating heart, the legendary
Dance around, forever carried
And find the song to let it go.

Moon at Midnight – Part XXI (day 1995)

part XX

At first it was hard to communicate with Willow
But we were inseparable
And we learned each other’s words
That helped us communicate
And what we lacked in spoken word
We made up for in body language
I hadn’t known many women in my time,
More familiar with an axe and squirrels,
But I learned Willow every way I could.

I learned how she hummed almost inaudibly
Before she woke me up
Dancing her fingers lightly over my sleeping body
As if they were sunlight
Warming my mind to the day;
I learned how her eyes looked shocked and innocent
When she couldn’t understand the words
I would excitedly share with her;
I learned her various routines
That announced each changing rhythm of the day;
I learned how much of a teacher
She was to Lily
Taking every moment she could to share
Her wisdom to her only child
With just the right enough patience
Matched with enough urgency
To encourage the blossoming child
To remember the things she must to survive.

I learned how she played with me
And laughed at my seriousness
She would push me to delay
In spots I hadn’t noticed in my hurry
Instantly draining whatever burden
I had riding about my shoulders
I learned her mischievous smile
When she would want me as her lover
And how she would lose all control
As she leaned her head back to my caress
Eager to remain entwined
Lost in the clutches of love.

Lily’s eyes would always grow larger
When she observed moments of our love
I knew that her adolescent crush
Wouldn’t let her sleep at night,
When Willow and I would share our passion
She seemed happier
Clearly part of her mothers spirit
That always sought to see happiness
In those around her
She would help as we learned to communicate as a family
Each playing a guessing game
That we became very accurate at
The more we learned each others’ rhythms.

part XXII

Proper Amount of Loving (day 1890)

My proper amount of loving has holes in the sides
From windows to the sea to eyes of the sky
And when little birds come to see what all the commotion is about
A song will emanate so warmly
Soft hand will come out as a lover
To speak kind words in private
And let me know how simple life has all become
Since a proper amount of loving has been found in this world.

Adore (day 1882)

Lover be my undying
Let my foot damp thy path
As sun still sets
My love will rest
Between all fancies your play
And in the morning when we wake again
Let’s hold all dreams some more
As whimsies take away delay
And floating is our route ahead
And to our nose shall always rouse
What heaven best can send

Memories Walk (day 1867)

I think a stranger walks away
Knowing from all a little more
Every time he steps outside
And leaves behind his mopped floor.
I think a parent walks towards
The object of themselves
To feel attachment in everything,
Mind, body, spirit, and soul.
I think a lover pulls towards
Sweet nectar of every fruit
To behold grace, to sweetly ignite,
Set fire to burn the loot.
I think a friend never knows
What brings them back again,
And if they do, they’re surely reckless
For nothing stays as memory remains.
