A Claim (day 2843)

It was not my claim,
Not could it ever have been
To be lost with controlled madness
On a motorcycle
Going fifty kilometers per hour.
The roads were too dusty,
Too slow,
Too quiet for forgiveness
To be called out
In a manner that did not support
Each dying ember of humanity.
And the glasses were of the new world,
A signal for misunderstanding
– Modern mythological errors
Combed with a brush of the future.
I merely sat there,
I did not dust off the seat
I did not wear deceiving clothes
I did not paint my hair black
Or red or green or blue,
And my wings ever grew
Until I no longer sat alone
Accompanied by history untold
That whispered flickers
Of a language with no words
To my clouded eyes
Laid bare.

Time Doesn’t Stop (day 2829)

It’s hard
Each morning’s steps
Each routine task
Each day hours slip on by
Yet each day wanes,
Loses it’s time,
To begin again another.
How does this rhythm
Speed up so
How do we slow down time?
How do we fit
Each task we wish
Into one full day
So that the next
Anew and awake
Shall meet a whole new list.

To Be Felt (day 2812)

I give you my patience
And it forgets about me
My lingering sadness
Frets about me
And your vision
Shines through another screen
That rectifies no hour
To hold on to you
A moment I cannot see
For you’re silencing me
Drifting, I shall not reward
I shall depart
And this too shall not be felt.

Passive Deflection (day 2622)

Does this mean I love you?
Do your choices reflect my state of being
Or do I reflect your changing heart?
Do I passively deflect your approaches
Or do I embrace your movement of my heart strings?
For in these silent hours beside the fire
I have learned I cannot change
The heart which has affected me
Upon each midnight frame.
So then, I remind myself,
I am to be leftover in
Each moment evermore;
A fan until the end of which
I cannot say out loud,
But only in my searching eyes
I see the answer again.

Old Wagon Road (day 2608)

There used to be a sign
Along the Old Wagon Road that read:
“Past here is what’s ahead
Gone is what’s behind
Don’t turn back for anything
Or the sight will leave you blind.”
Seventeen men were said
To have taken ill advice
Whos remains are rumored laid
Ten paces from that sign.
But if you keep towards the road,
Visions that brought you forth
The Old Wagon Road will help
The slope and yours align.
Not many have ever failed here,
Though not many have dared come
But many’ an hour still to spend
Upon the Old Wagon Road.

Filled With Stars (day 2423)

Why is it we lose our way
When the light’s turned off
And the song’s the same.
When the lion roars
It knows its call,
So our lonely nights
They are filled with stars.

When we have a chance
Do we raise our voice?
Do we stand up tall
And right our wrong?
Do we listen to our memories?
Our inner voice
That knows the stars.

There are signs for us
That show our way,
Shining as they are
So our souls can see.
They light our path
In our darkest hour,
So begin today
Watch for those stars.

Not Tomorrow (day 2128)

You had a golden hour approaching
I wrote it down into my never ending
Then I sang a song that held each note too long
And dusted off each missing string.

Well and gone was each memory
Tucked into a case, sent off to sea
So my carved music making machine
Led me down the worst wrong street.

Oh you, you, you dug more sand to cover my toes
Coldness that I couldn’t attribute
Soaking bone my today castle
Over sunsets of towards a never end.
