Into My Ear (day 1142)

A little sick soldier floated into my ear today.
He loudly exclaimed he was here to stay.
Over tea we discussed merry things,
Like rooibos tea, poppies,
And the smell of honey on a pretty girls lonely lips.
We both cringed.
We both sighed and laughed
With wicket intensity
That held my soul
Into unconditional surrender.
For after all, I survived these
Battle scars and sleepless memories.

Girls Dig Them (day 956)

I wear my vintage sweaters everywhere
They make me feel hip
Like Patti Smith mixed with Albert Collins
Kind of cool to the bone cat

It’s convenient because when it’s cold
I’ve got protection
Layered into vintage wools
And historic oranges

I used to care more about the holes
But now they’re marked with untold stories
Some days, if I’m feeling adventurous
I’ll make stories to fill them up

But mostly I just like the smell
Curling around me and calling me theirs
And the girls dig them
Especially when it’s cold out

Bicycle (day 639)

Your marvelous wheels
That catch a shining glare
Turn all the girls heads
When we roll on by
Summer golden locks
With pink crop tops
Big eyed shades
It’s gelato time
And racing through parks
Jacket flowing wide
Wind in my hair
Big smile on my eyes
Freedom!
Freedom at last!
As we curl past the final gazebo
Home stretch in front
We’ll stop just in time

Wild Coyote Howls (day 436)

When you got freckles like that
There ain’t nothing going wrong
The devil himself
Has got eyes that long
And the world that spins
Skips a beat as you dance
When you got freckles like that
There ain’t nothing going wrong

When you got hips that move
Like a good girls should
There’s bound to be a groove
That lasts so long
With hands held high
You can touch the sky
When you got hips that move
Like a good girls should

When you shoot that grin
There’s a wild coyote that howls
Like mother natures sin
It’s good to dig deeper
When it lasts like a memory
Clutched to the bosom
When you shoot that grin
There’s a wild coyote that howls

No Girls (day 99)

The kids play lazily as the captain he takes aim
The daughter of the third mate, she takes upon his love

The game it begins
And two men grin

The daughter she’ll only take one

Long lasting memories of two voyages previously
Makes the captain and his men

~

Good plans
But a lady on board

To all of their horror
Will prove this ships demise

In the daughters disguise

In all of our eyes
Take heed in the rule of no girls
