You guarded the gate
Like Sphynx afar
Stoned and vacant
And mighty imposing
Like a thundering Lord
With a wish for more
Yet slowly people
Fell away
As bricks built upon
A ragged foundation
Of imposed rules
And stolen goods
Will always crumble
Until at last
It broke
Hinges and all
Leaving each pebble
In your wake
A memory
Of a truth once shared

Our Daily Step (day 2433)
Ask yourself questions of thy soul:
Those of pith
That require no translation
When repeated backwards to the mind,
Those that break you down
To your very foundation
Whereby upon rebuilding
A new found power exists.
Are you inside enough?
Building virtue like an Olympian
Sweating breaks down the truth.
Ask these questions of thy soul
Until blood of our deepest toil
Stains the back of our lively dance,
And reverberates from the weight
Of our daily step.
Tall Strands of Sunlight (day 2169)
Have we clearly laid
The foundation
To a happy ever after?
A song that rings
Into the air
Beyond framed walls of
Heathen grass?
I will wait, then
And curl my toes
Into tall strands
Of sunlight.
Crawl (day 822)
Crawl without the lines
That pull you to me
Crawl without the whispers
Drawing your innocence out
Let the foundation wrinkle
Let the answers avoid
Flipped pages
Choose your own adventure
Lust filled back pages
Scribbled notes
And locked treasure chests
