Bishop (day 1649)

The holy roads of checkmate
Lay my English sober
Leaving lions at the gate
Screaming at misshapen strangers
Spitting on this cigarette ridden sidewalk
With stutters and sideways mysteries
That, to my careful eyes
Jogging left and to the right,
I feel empathetically complacent
And take my bishop onward: strong.

I Cried (day 1644)

On the edge of my post they cried.
They sat down in a semi circle
With legs crossed and arms placed
Calmly about their laps
And sang to me with eyes closed
And angelic voices reaching from
Stern to bow.
There was an unanswered echo
That leapt from a good cause
To an outstanding motif
Highlighted in the sun.
Whence my eyes swept from
Juxtapose to just a reason
And calmly reminded myself
I was upon the edge of my post
Until they cried.

More or Less (day 1636)

Listening to me. Listening to feelings transpose into logic at a thousand frames per second. Listening to a new widow sigh on a train into dark night.

With your help I have gone a step beyond. An echo off in the distance as a bat flaps it’s wings in pure silence. But my heartbeat has become deafening, your pulse as elixir.

Listening to me delicately tap echoing waves into a silent-still pond, fireflies becoming breath upon my eyes here aglow. And a memory, just like you said: life is not more less.

Thug Dance (day 1577)

I’m an East Van thug
I’ve got dimes for your eyes
I wrote empty lines
For shoes your size.

Beats’n’bustin
And breakin signs,
I’ve locked this hood
On playing this rhyme

Crack crack
Break a ga-lack
Break your mother fuckin’ knees
Smack; my attack

From Hasting’s to Oppenheimer
To Railtown smokin’ crack
These pimps are all small time
Knock’n at my back.

I’ve got thugs in my pocket
From Strathcona to Clark
Commercial to Main,
Remember sucker, East Van’s the land

All you rebels cryin’ loud
My shit’s locked tight
Now strap on your booties,
Baby, let’s dance!

Nite Mare - Ned Tobin - East Van Candy Gangster

In Love (day 1574)

I am hopelessly in love
With words I cannot explain,
With a world so far away
Lost into the abyss of time.
Yet me, in my stubborn nature
Crawl, nay, scramble through rubble
To find exact duplications
That fit my heart just right
And let this feeling linger
Until my eyes close
And heart beats on.

In Love by Ned Tobin

Entangled Gap (day 1542)

Many things cross over the gaps developing,
Or rather the gaps closing
(Bridges close gaps but barriers remain)
But your heart yet remains.
Your heart reacts like the gates
Of a foreign city under siege,
Combatants awaiting orders with nervous sweat,
Clammy fingers gripping, reciting,
Losing breath, and faintly recognizing the boiling
Hearts standing alert and flanking beyond
Until the eyes drain tired.
Bridged gap?
Gapped bridge.
(In closing) lovers entangle.

Earth (day 1483)

With your heart beat –
Thundering through mountains,
Across crevaces,
Through valleys, full cities
And Oceans so far
An eye cannot see
But know, undoubtly,
That horizon lines
Only trick us
To believe your gravity is
Comprehensible –
My heart beats.
With your ebb and my flow
A unity gathers so strongly
That when left unchecked,
A wobbling and teetering
And quivering begins.
Thus, over this floating mass
Of carbon based matter
Quantum does exist,
Qi is your heart,
And my breath like every other breath
Is a slave to your every
Beck and call.
