Crow’s Eyes (day 1718)

I remember when a crow flew
Into my eyes of fear
Leaving behind a little ghost
Who spoke words I did not want to hear.

But as I sat and steeped my tea
I could not gain my truth,
So little by little
An angry cry
Was heard above the rumble.

A cry that was not for pure peace,
A cry not from a babe,
My cry was loud and deliberate
My beak’d been getting black.

For when the grace of tempest’s blast
Ceased all ’round my hearth,
I whipped into such fury as
A devil burning brightly at my feet
Two eyes locked on mine, forevermore.

A Love Poem To Myself (day 971)

This is a love poem to my own self,
All hairy and indulgent and breathing rapidly.
Because from the tips of my toes
To wisps upon the back of my neck
From the shape of my beak
To the curvature of my idle fingers
I am in love.

Constant thoughts that flutter through
Idle spaces of my mind
Keep my constantly occupied
With being me.
I love that it’s a gear
– Never ending clockwork –
Cycling through unidentifiable patterns
Undeniably grand

Our late night plans are always the finest
Delicacies like chocolate, popcorn,
And maybe even corn nuts
Fill up my dreams, the happy times
Times I spend my other time
Working towards expanding
Stretching it out so that even
Crunching noises become ecstasy

So my love, my true romance
It is my utter pleasure
To be yours forever.
Your breath is my breath,
Your thought is my care,
Your bend is my fold,
You are me, forever one.

Wally and Waddle McIntyre (day 681)

Wally and Waddle
Are two of the same
Penguin and penguin
One shorter
One taller
They stand
As they huddle
Happy together
Dancing in tune
In a glorious wobble
From here to the bottom
Or until seasons end
For then with a new born
The charge will be on
In a rippling instant
In one big mad dash
To the water: a feast
To the water with greed!
Swirling and spinning
Around and around
The catch and the kill
Eat until filled
Then return to the nest
To share in this test
Feed our new child
Fed beak to the beak
With moments that ensue
We know each other
Relentless we shall go
Our love will reign
