If only I had the sense to be
Like Tiger stalking prey:
Focused and with eyes alert,
I am the predator.
I have full attention to
Every sound alerting me,
Minute changes I can see
Smell, sense, and feel.
Never hungry, growing family
At the top of my game
I am an Apex predator
This is my territory.
I am gone in the order of gratitude
Baked cookies and a overflowing milkshake
Beans for supper but hold the pudding
I’m watching the stars go around again
But Polaris makes me spin around
This collaboration expanding in an exhaust of pain
For a two letter word in a five tree forest
Begun the path, no return
Running silently I empty each bag
Carried for so long, straps begun worn
And something thus calls me, standing I’m alert
Hollering and hollering, Thusurathar
Name me again, gratitude remains.
You there, bouncing everywhere,
What alerts you, I’m sorry I’ve scared.
Bounce away, hop along
I am not here to cause you wrong
I am just a passing stranger
Who lives across the way.
These are the plants that I have sown
This is the grass that tickles my toes
And now, see here, we both can share
Bounding here and there and everywhere.
Many things cross over the gaps developing,
Or rather the gaps closing
(Bridges close gaps but barriers remain)
But your heart yet remains.
Your heart reacts like the gates
Of a foreign city under siege,
Combatants awaiting orders with nervous sweat,
Clammy fingers gripping, reciting,
Losing breath, and faintly recognizing the boiling
Hearts standing alert and flanking beyond
Until the eyes drain tired.
(In closing) lovers entangle.
Today I go into beyond,
Parting heavy gates.
Closed last season.
This strong grip.
What lifted my spirits
Above swords so sharp,
To plunge back down
Into death so brown.
Here I grow
Beyond my heart.
Lost to earth.
Bound with opal strings
I gaze into my holder.
Eyes so strong.
Until I smooth clean off
Like rolling fog,
Smothering my choice.
…and these beautiful tenses that flip then and now,
That close over my eyes and filter my dreams
Into little open-lid unmarked boxes
Arranged like a Braque exploration in cubism
These tenses float through thought, itching these dark corners
And flickering little sparks about.
Sensorial-wisps tingle my toes
And I close my fists a little tighter around patched memories
For brief moments then
As I stand alert, awake, and open
A vortex envelopes myself until that split second
Where I no longer have choice but instinct
…and I flip out, eyes fluttering
Glowing like a radiant being whose reached ecstasy
Who has just downloaded boundless formations
With Nag Champa floating and settling around
Don’t throw away my misery as if I’ve been kindly handling your manner for years
Respect it and covet it like a well worn lawn mower, hardly spewing black smoke
And dance around it with spears and face paint while chanting god-speek
Because if you, for one single moment, think the moon will set before the deed is done
Then you’re sadly mistaken, sadly believing in mystics and chimera
Barking at the moon fully loaded for bear with a hand down your trousers
While the children of the night roll around at your feet, stretching for answers
Into the pale night skies pockmark’d rivers of darkness
Don’t let me be, standing here against the cold wall of ancient growth alone and heavily breathing
Listening for forgotten sounds to ring alert, echoing in the night
A calming sensation growing up through my spine as anxious boils over into my thoughts
When the dagger begins to sink into it’s last goodbye
