At Four AM (day 700)

It’s four am and you’ve just dined on my seven thirty yearning
Ain’t no more lone stars buzzing ’round this night sky
Aretha Franklin making me feel like a SUU-PREME lover
I’ve got soul oozing outa my fingertips
Tracing edges of your naked hips with eyes-wide-closed

I let my words get a little bit dirty, just a little bit
A lazy mid-summer breeze shuttling through these sheets
Carrying the sweet smells of our four am lover games

It’s times like these where life stands still
Where lovers squirm silently under gushing melodies of desire
Darkness concealing tomorrow’s troubles
While a half gone glass of evenings red
Brings our lips together, exchanging our dogged passion
Into pure physical reaction, forever and ever
‘Cause sometimes it’s a feeling baby

Together, Apart (day 696)

I’m sorry my dear darling
But I’ve been out here passing
My card into the hands
Of my future’s next romance

I hope this isn’t shocking
For I’ve been displaced in my walking
Left to my own devices
Off on unknown adventure

I was never left here laughing
Nor with you did I try crying
But a city that whispers wildly
Tore our souls together, apart

Thorny Patches and Sun Bleached Logs (day 695)

Gulls call out to friends floating away
Upon tides pushing this way and that
Messy streams of salty water
Crisscross a retreating ocean’s exposé
Thick stalks of grass bloat the shoreline
That’s overwhelmed by sun bleached logs
Spewed upon the edges
As if laid there in organized inventory
While off in the distance a black tornado of birds
Hover around the surface searching
Blackbirds sing from thorny blackberry patches
That separates green from thousands of shades of grey
Mimicking darkening clouds rolling above
Ready to send droplets propelled by gravity
But off in the distance, upon the horizon
Voluptuous and impressive clouds
Change from glaring white to navy blue
Interspersed with teal shades of open sky
And a darkened silhouette of a distant island
Looms ominously like the jetty
That breaks the horizon line into greys and sky blues

Iona Beach

Puddles (day 694)

The puddles here gather round spots of sunshine
Dancing with robins and Wellingtons
In remaining hours of daylight

Punishment has been avoided for now
Savoring the spring’s warmth outdoors
With a steamingly frothed London Fog
Amongst the tall cedars and black jackets

I pull at the trendy girls who sit in my view
Flashing my Stockholm trends in the warm sun
It’s been a while since I’ve been on these steps
A notebook in hand and a mind full of advice
Triumph for the elders and history’s art
