Christmas (day 580)
Evening approached and the table was set
Kids gathered around all dressed in their best
I, with my wisdom, did carve out the ham
Sharpened the knives for thinly sliced meat
Hors d’oeurves were laid out for the hungry to snack
But all there to witness couldn’t resist what they saw
Candles were lit for the mood of the night
Glasses all clinked in festive thanks: grace
Feverishly eating, heavenly tasting
The food all consumed, the belly extended
Happily the family rested in joy
Content from the feasting
Warm from their labours
This was their Christmas as it ended in bliss
Fight (day 579)
Pushing and pulling
The struggle is on
My body is bent
Teeth they be grit
The labour is hard
I know it’ll be long
I fight to improve
And fight till death
I fight to live better
I fight because I’m strong
Nooks and Crannies (day 578)
Willfully pulling you against me
Pressures begin to rise inside
Your breath blows imaginary curls
Resting around the back of my neck
I fondle your nooks and crannies
Exploring this secret frontier
With eyes so wide they freeze frame
And memorize the goddess they behold
Sparks whiz and whirl around
Bouncing off the walls
Darting between the sheets
And colliding with us lovers
I breathe deeply and inhale the essence
Choice words play at the edges of my tongue
As I arch my eyes at the cresting moon
Deep inside the dark caves
Of the night sky that gazes down
While lovers tangle in happy delight
Little whispers saunter around the room
Hiding behind dusty books for another day
And lovers fade into pillows
All thoughts have come and gone
Except smiles, smiles do remain
Peaceful (day 577)
We all pay attention
Look into the glass
And watch the bubbles form
We all sit in a crowded bar alone
Staring into the absence of mind
And wonder about our journey
We all smile at the little children playing
It’s an uncontrollable thing
The same as laughter modifies our face
We all meld into the future
Unconscious of our friends we lose
Happy about the footsteps we’ve led away
We all have to cry
It’s inevitable in our destruction
It’s peaceful, after the storm
Cutest Button (day 576)
Cutest buttons sparkle and shine
A sleeping baby stays warm tonight
Snuggled in with reindeer and rabbits
Where happy dreams do fill the sky
In this young world, all is well
In this young mind, animals smile

I was given this customer photograph, and requested to write a short poem to go along with it for Minus40’s blog. The onsie is a Minus40.
Seriously adorable stuff.
The Lover Seals Her Fate (day 575)
Erupting through the sky above
Energy explodes around love
Capturing a quick passionate embrace
Magical highlights leave no trace
Clawing at my hidden gates
The lover enters; seals her fate
And up and up and up we go
Breathing hard to take it slow
Down and down and down we run
Until the moon turns into sun
All Night Diner (day 574)
I walk away with 10 lbs of guilt
Drying out at the side of an all night diner
Pissing in pots for immediate release
Burgers for the greedy
With fries
Where I once felt free
In the shady hours of the night
I no longer lurk with the victims of crime
Sitting cross legged at the altar
Single candle burning
I comfort my sentence with salt
Easing the napkin under the table
As I sandwich my regret between two sesame seed buns
Smelling redemption
Smiling in content
The Wind (day 573)
You couldn’t walk away just like that; wind blowing your hair in a careless manner leaving eyes dropping memories one at a time
Yet, with the legends that crop out the clouded sky into dreams that come forward with just the right light
I have become another human
I have become the epitome of graceful
I have become the master of disguises
I have leaned so far out the window that my hat and glasses have blown off in a whirl of excitement and confusion
And I have died a thousand times
Died with the madness that grows in the spring time
Died with the emptiness of an ending shower
Died with the footprints that don’t stop in a new winter’s flurry
Meanwhile, as the sheets get unfolded and spread upon the queen sized bed
A stranger in the twilight rests his eyes upon what walks away: a heart of the softest kind with the sweetest smile and dearest eyes
I mind the rocky paths and step lightly to that path which softens under foot, void of all jetty rocks that perturb my conscience with evil glances and a mean demeanor
I reminisce about the legends I’ve read about, chest held high, knees stepping lightly over the path ahead
And I feel my own hair blowing in the wind as I reach further and further into freedom and dreams
Ignoring the possibility that these snowy tracks will be forever gone if we lose the fingertips we embrace with love
Leaving behind a single memory, fluttering like a broken heart
In a graceful dance
From the confines of my soul
Through my heavy eyes
And into the wind
Zen (day 572)
Focused breath
Inner relaxation
Bold revelations
