As darkness turns my lights low
Shake until I roll,
Outlast my deepest silence
For what I’m looking for.
Not vacant by morning –
Withering decay –
Fall apart my soul implode;
Forever I surrender,
Taught what I should not.
Month: January 2018
Two by Two Waltz (day 2428)
Dear, let’s take a walk
Two by two by arm I’ll lead
Romantic waltz through midnight streets
Sure, let’s grab a drink or more
This warm fuzzy café seems fit
Midnight streets where cheer spills onto
Lamppost covered sidewalks
Eyes meet you and a neck with a scarf
Ellipses and unravels around
Midnight streets we’ve begun to walk
Arm in arm and a drink or two
A park for us, a surrounding pond
Lamp lit trails that rosey our noseys
To help our midnight souls unwind
Along a path our footsteps take us back
Two by two to midnight’s eve
And our happy songs linger on
In a snowy doorstep
Ode to a Honeybee (day 2427)
Look at me
Honeybee
I’m in the sky
On every flower
I’m with the sun
And this is fun
Ohhh be
My honeybee
Let’s make a run
To every pistil
Yellow, blue
And violet whistles
Dance around
Have some fun
Ohhh see
My honeybee
You and me
We’d be free
Just you and me
Forever free
In every field
Of wild poppies
Just a Better Man (day 2426)
If I was just a better man
I’d have made a little change;
Words still spoke echo loud
Instead it’s drugs that choke.
I have a mind filled of veins
Tracks leading Hollywood
Straight to Reno, desert rose –
And it’s a clear night tonight.
Blackness of a heart murmur
Every shadow induces blur
That silhouette each mystery
Like whispering dust amidst a dream.
“Goodnight my well worn boots,
I’ll be sleeping in tonight.”
Inner Bark (day 2425)
I’m turning over a new leaf
– Budding spirals green in depth,
Spring’s warming showers –
My lines have turned
My shadows shifted
My inner bark has begun to stretch
To where my roots know how to find.
This heart of mine has slept and drank
My eyes have wept and cleared
New toes of length have wiggled free
For today I continue blossoming.
Snow Fell Calmly (day 2424)
From the depths I held a rope;
Coldest cold, hardest struggle,
Frosted reminder in a window.
A sister I once shared
Secrets every other day.
Shadow reaching to my hand
Take me, take me, take me again,
Spring is coming here once more
Where once snow fell to the floor
Golden brows caressed me
Arcs implying recollection
In a pool: my own reflection,
Looking back I see the signs
Take me, take me, take me again.
Filled With Stars (day 2423)
Why is it we lose our way
When the light’s turned off
And the song’s the same.
When the lion roars
It knows its call,
So our lonely nights
They are filled with stars.
When we have a chance
Do we raise our voice?
Do we stand up tall
And right our wrong?
Do we listen to our memories?
Our inner voice
That knows the stars.
There are signs for us
That show our way,
Shining as they are
So our souls can see.
They light our path
In our darkest hour,
So begin today
Watch for those stars.
Green to Red (day 2422)
A lonely number
In a foreign country
Counting up
To a better memory.
If there was ever
A busy street,
Let stoplights turn
From green to red;
Let park benches sit
On friendly pathways.
Eyes (day 2421)
I saw your eyes
As they passed
Window of my mind
To which I awoke
And finally saw
A lotus in my hand
Good Nights (day 2420)
I watch a boy my size who is
Coming through the door.
He’s got himself a bundle of
Leather bound books in hand.
I asked him if he read much Cohen
He said it was a bore.
Just like that, my first impression
Was shot out to the moon,
For how could anybody say
Cohen wasn’t much to implore.
I returned to my conversation
With a brown eyed Lady-more.
She had told me about a tale
Where two men sang folk lore,
Now this was it, this was my style
We were on to so much more.
Then I sank into much ease
As she walked me to the store.
Pack of gum, two candy sticks
And a bottle of sweet ale.
Thus my night was set into
A tale of leather soles
Lighting up the cobblestones
Walking the road hand in hand.
