Sharpening Stone (day 2326)

Upon a knee
Our warrior was blasphemed
Rose in teeth
Cut down
And consecrated
Upside down
By a dagger
Ten inches long
Through the girth
Of his left rib
Icy reverie ensued
From the coldest of hands
From the North Sea Queen.

Upon a knee
Blood thickly rolled
Like dreadful winter freeze
All words lost
In the eyes of our warrior
Who at long last
Veil removed
Saw truth
Darkness in the heart
Ice in the touch
Of the North Sea Queen.

Upon a knee
A heart slowly broke
Glossed over
With ice
A deep cold
For within this
Intimate hearth
Exposed, revealed
A sharpening stone
Ancient and froze
And our warrior’s sadness
Frigid
Clasped
By the North Sea Queen.

Monument (day 2325)

At long last
After years of toil
Relentless servants
Of the North Sea Queen
Finished
A monument of the cold
Ravishingly cold Queen.
She screamed the orders
Barked out commands
And had off with those
Who balked at her plan.
A siren had come
And tempted her faithful
Who lasted no more
Then five nights
With what Faithful remains
– No chance –
The siren had blown
Such a warm summer’s wind
Down the back of Faithful
To what ends, no more.
Hearing the uproar
Amongst chattering icicles
The Ice of the North Sea
Knew everything devious.
Off she marched
With ten thousand souls
She commanded an army
To find the rogue, un-Faithful.
Aghast, in the midst
Of passion, enflamed
Engulfed the North Sea Queen
With icy cold madness
Catching in mid stride
Works of a lover
To be sentenced to eternity;
A monument remains.

Black (day 2324)

I want a house designed all in black
I want to cover any colors, exposed
With ash, stain, darkness,
Shou Sugi Ban
– A blackness that cannot be rubbed off –
I will tint the windows
And dim the lights,
Burning only black candles.
Nothing new will enter this house
Nothing fresh or alive
Nothing that will shed light
On the depth of this hallow
Forever written in black ink
Upon black dyed paper.
I will eat only black beans
That will sit upon a black plate
Of black rice beside black olives,
Occasionally a loaf of pumpernickel
Will be permitted within.
I will wash with black soap
In a tub of black pearl
Dried by a black towel,
And my sheets of black cotton
Will rest quietly below
My duvet of black duck feathers
For my black soul
To sleep, evermore.

Future (day 2323)

Where is our future
If the youth of today
Are a timelines status
And a programmed computer
Our workforce
Where will we be when
Our ten thousand followers
Gobble our every word?
Motivation for their lives?
Where is our future
If even our leaders
Cannot speak words of truth
Do not display ethics
Ten thousand people should hold?
When do we realize
We are not in control?
When we are no longer listening
To our inner wisdom?
Instead, steadfast and determined
To follow the voice
Of this flickering display.

Glossy Angel (day 2322)

Have I become a status update?
Words that have no meaning
In the tangible domain
An ego swelling at the possibilities
Inflation at our fingertips,
Choices in our heart.
Have I lost the moonlight
Amidst my electric glow?
My own thoughts displaced
By wings of a glossy angel.
And here I go,
Turning the page for more
Settling in for warmth
With my heart emoticon.

Un-Enchanted (day 2321)

No words to this song
All lost in the clouds
Hovering closely by
– A sadness knowing
Of this deepened change.

Yet what could I do?
What can I do?
What worth is life lived
Lacking pursuit?
Not to share
Dreams that I dare?
Remaining as silent as this song;
To not have asked
For your love?

So it doth appear
That the heart
Of our revered damsel
Remains lost to this
Repent sadness;
My dreams shan’t ring
As fair summer warmth.
No song can be sung,
Hovering as it may,
To ears that remain
Un-enchanted, un-chained.

In This Stance (day 2320)

Why are you settling into rhythm dance?
Columns of smoke off in the distance.
This isn’t the county fair,
Tickets are not up for sale.
Can I wield you more?
Master of a well tuned sword.
Can I stand up tall
Can I hold this stance?

I carry this rhythm down each dusty road
With my candle, ever bright
I am the carrier, strongest arm
Leader with my hand over heart
Standing tall and holding stance
Boldly believing, and that is tall.

Resting Spot Tonight (day 2319)

I am not to be taken down
Little lonesome memory
Falling everywhere in here
Take a figure dressed in black
My resting spot tonight.
Undulating aftershocks
My corpse a dangerous tune
Play me just such lovely song
With broken strings again
Take me to my hallow cave
My resting spot tonight.
Weathervane spinning restlessly
Copper at the top
Holy ghosts and untrapped souls
Ten spoons for a bed
Take my cover into eve’
My resting spot tonight.

Shuffling (day 2318)

I’m not very far
Just a shining star
A beat sent to the night
Half past what was good
Turned into three songs
I’m not shuffling on
Freight train of my night
Slow song keeps following me
Down another lonely street
Not far to get
Thoughts of home
My weary knees,
Shining star and not very far
Sing me songs I wont forget
And carry me another beat
I’m shuffling on.

Two Shiny Stones (day 2317)

I got a letter from my soul today
Asked me where I had been staying
I shared about my secret lover
Said she couldn’t stay
I wept until my eyes bled ice
I shrunk into the sea
Where then to begin?
– Until my heart clouded winter
Lost into the sea –
I surfaced as two shiny stones
Held in one Danish hand
Wrapped in softness, unbeknownst
Settling beyond, over me.
