Lead the Way (day 2723)

These trees have begun to speak in many languages
To my ears that are listening to silence.
Each time Orion shines, Owl begs for a lover
While my tears dry upon my cheek
– Sap dries upon each tree’s wound,
For no wound is too deep to heal
– Though frost strikes into depths I cannot feel anymore.
Dog enjoys this silence, he hears it all
He hears what I cannot hear
Though my eyes they fight fire with his.
I leave my footsteps alone
And find a new way home, trees lead me there.
This treeline I never made yet live upon every day
Grows against my territory like Winter against Fall,
I have not become used to it
Eagerly entering into the darkened shire
With my heart freely beating against my lips
That keep pace with a dog, yet fearless
And listening to trees lead the way.

A Heart Decayed (day 2669)

I wanted you to be with me,
Lilac in Autumn,
“Death do us part,” we said;
Death upon our doorstep,
Maple leaves blew at us,
Grass lay fallen all around,
Yet we held each other close
For no Winter gale could throw
What Summer had bestowed.
I watched as each petal fell
Each gross, entangling retreat
For which I had no escape from,
No secret spell to depart.
So there I lay
Crumpled, long past bloom
Decaying and so delicately
A heart so much betrayed.

Shadow Tower (day 2330)

She rustled her leaves back and forth
Sweeping a nation of winter
Through the villages below.

How could they feel
This anger, hatred
Without winter closing upon them?

Darkness in a tower
Shadows lingering longer
Than daylight had planned.

Whispers were shrieks
To those unshielded ears
Unbowed, unobedient.

Children not yet warned
Would stare in awe
Horrific shadows cast.

Amidst harsh coldness
Sat iron gates, locked
Winter, forever exposed.

Queen of the North Sea
Angular and majestic
Ruthless and cold.

Two Shiny Stones (day 2317)

I got a letter from my soul today
Asked me where I had been staying
I shared about my secret lover
Said she couldn’t stay
I wept until my eyes bled ice
I shrunk into the sea
Where then to begin?
– Until my heart clouded winter
Lost into the sea –
I surfaced as two shiny stones
Held in one Danish hand
Wrapped in softness, unbeknownst
Settling beyond, over me.

This Howl (day 2269)

This howl awoke into a fog
A late winter hovering on summer’s brow
Shifting dreams into shivers
Shifting giants into trees
And stones walking in silence
To wind blowing softly
Upon the giant’s sail.
A lone small bird soared effortlessly
Into and then out of fog
Looking regularly at the ground cover
For the days feed of minions and minnows
Bobbing with the grace of an oil lamp
Stained the colour of desolation
Like a sea captain standing proud
Upon the hearth of a sinking ship
Smoking his last bowl from his foreign pipe
Blowing heavy clouds over the valley
Set deep inside his heart of a howl.
