The Ancient Sword That Stole Away With You (day 2195)

If I could be the ancient sword
That stole away with you
One waltz that takes us merrily
To the sea so free.
Each bond you felt that held you back
I’m your liberating sharp
Whimsically eager at your call
Lightly laying aside ageing leaves
Floating our minds upon the breeze.
For your sup I’d fix your cut
Sliced so fine, no toil to chide
A glass of wine to ease your mind
Relax upon my sturdy spine
Your head upon my shoulder.

Silhouetted Cacti (day 2172)

I will be the sun dripping
Down legs of golden heroes

I will be the crumbling dirt
Amidst each footstep, counted

I will be the wings soaring
To each ebb and matching flow

I will be the wandering nomad
Caught in effortless migration

I will be the passion building
Spring cannot be stopped

I will be the hours breathing
While a hand rests, exhausted

I will be the knot tied
Alert silhouetted cacti

I will be the red ball
Dipped into old red wine

I will be the front porch song
For each moment you are my anchor.

Every Morning’s Breakfast (day 1932)

I don’t want to fall into what I’ve never believed,
I want to fall into just you and me.
Late night snacking upon our ruffled sheets,
And every morning’s breakfast
Made for two, that’s you and me.
I want to go for daily picnics
In amongst our wild and thriving garden
Like the love we feed each other
From the bottoms of our feet
That touch under covers
When we’re playing hide and seek,
I want to grow into our house
With your little things hanging everywhere
I want to journey long and far
With your laundry in my bag
Because forever I want to carry
What burdens you, nevermore.
I want it to be just you and me
With a candle makes three
Over dinner we made together
Bums touching as we danced and poured
Our love freely like wine.
And our love intoxicating!
With every breath we share together
Will be sweet wine hand in hand
From our bottomless bottle
Of our hearts we’ve tied together
When we plunged under the oceans spray,
When we first danced the night away.

Afternoon Buzz (day 1594)

I hear the sounds of last night’s rain
Dripping off the guitar man upstairs
Like he’s drinking an unmarked bottle of wine
With candles stuffed inside
Green colored empties everywhere.
His pancake heart is shifting
As his torn-bottom baggy jeans scuff
His unease like a broken pencil
And no sharpener.
But two fifteen will buy a slow drip
In a soft-white ceramic self-logo
– Without refill – from a beanie-topped
Organic cycler that always smiles
And talks in soft tones to her cute co-worker
Humoring her choice in music.

Ashram Day 26 (day 1429)

You said your eyes were clear,
I saw dust and wine ruining time.
Lift my hands and call me home,
Living atheist still ain’t easy.
Jesus, transcendent and ominous light,
Lead my heart into a choice;
Moses helped a shepherd’s flight.
You said your eyes were always clear,
I closed my eyes and saw you dear.

Fine Wine Dreams (day 1392)

This tap has run dry
Of its fine wine,
Just chips and dip left
On the mantle ledge.

A fire burns elastically,
Transfixing each gaze
Into a myraid of dreams
Slowly edging reality’s edge.

Darkness transcends time
When city streets no longer wind
About fir trees and hemlock,
Mocking life’s cruel new wedge.

Dreams in the Key of Darkness (day 1343)

Sometimes dreams don’t leave room for imagination;
Waking with a fright and deep recollection.
Hollering into night cools my lone wolf.
I’m a man of slip-slopping recollection,
I dine with strangers who share my wine.

We beg for answers when we’ve shown no mercy.
We all do.
It’s the cruelest of tortures that bless us rancid
Until our feverish states blow our sails full.
Darker seas then any wind-swept sailor would care to see.

Rupturing up my torn soul
I do continue to howl in my brief waking hours
For my window has closed and my feet become sore
And my alley of sinister has just become cold,
To await my march as darkness in greeting.

Lonely Divine (day 1133)

An ocean cries a single time,
Waves crash delicately over my mind.
You could be the emptiness
A forever I’ve never witnessed.
And all of this could be just fine
With a sour drop of wine,
As all the while I’ve played finesse
I have nothing left to confess.
But you, dear lonely divine
Will nevermore be stealing my time.

Feel Like That (day 827)

It’s been a long time since I woke from death
Layered with unconquered thoughts
Buttoned up with snaps to strip me bare

Visions and nature quests
Visions and serpents
Visions of the omnipresent
Gathering ’round natures ripest tree

You float with me
Like smooth wine through luxury
Shaking off cobwebs with fine tipped pens
Rummaging deep into a shallow purse
And throwing about glitter
Like momma ain’t got no worries

So, I’ve lost my excuses
I ate them with magic mushrooms
Wrapped in fantasy’s glow
Ecstasy, running free like bombs

Like bombs that ring in my ears telling me to stop
