Fog Horn (day 1969)

Where were you?
Alone at last and one day you will see
That my attempts to make things pass differently
Will go un-answered, un-fooled,
Soundscapes passing by my tender touches
In an envelope neatly packed so.
A heavy rain left my sweet flowers
Like pillars of a ruin,
And tapping lightly culls my darkness –
A soft smile about my face.
Willow in the season of dying
Soothes a fog horn off my ragged coastline,
I whistle into the coming darkness:
Where do you lay your head tonight?

Rolling Along (day 1941)

A long way from home
And two coyotes howl into the night,
Pale moon’s looking me in the eye,
And I don’t got no campfire going tonight.

A saddle’s a lonesome companion
But this trusty steed’s sure good to me,
Four hooves and a long mane
And my dusty trail goes on.

A valley’s spread is my eager eye
Around every cresting corner,
Naming trees and flicking bees
And I’m just rolling along.

To My Moon (day 1749)

Where did all of the wild horses go?
When we walked through the tall greenscape grass
Was it wind blow my mind
Straight to your sweet design?
Sun in my eyes was just my good disguise.
Won’t you come see me tonight, sweet mystery?
Don’t leave me here with sun gone out now,
Keeps a crawling around just so.
I’ll be mighty hands on the run.
I’ll be summer’s midnight stars up so high,
Crickets crackling in our eyes.
Roll up our sleeves to a mid-summer’s breeze,
And let Cassanova be my midnight name;
When I’m left alone as the Phantom goes
And your heart is wrapped all up in thought.
So when midnight strikes me tattooed, too
I will roll up my unused bribes for another bride
Like a straightened arrow, to my moon I will go.

To My Moon by Ned Tobin

Tonight’s Sky (day 1673)

To be the lonesome desperado
Spread out on the plain,
Looking for mescalato
In a dusty town again.

What was the last thing that she said
As I kissed her our last goodbye:
“I will expect you back again,
For you’re mine and mine till end.”

As the sun chasing through
Clouds about the sky
A sister hopes out loud tonight
As I say what’s left is true.

Long Drive (day 1506)

You were a long drive
Along an empty highway
Through Boise, Idaho
At a quarter after 10;
Cool night air flowing in,
Rock music flowing out.
You were coming home tonight
But you’re not coming home tonight.
You are the noisy lily-pond
As stars sing out goodnight.
Long drive rolling home.

Bright Workings (day 1299)

Rhythm and love shakes me.
Feeling and all of it makes me.
Haven’t been down lately.
Are you coming around, baby?

Can you feel me inside nighttime,
Like glitter in these light wines.
I’m a fountain of love baby,
You’re shaking all over tonight lines.

Feel me, as emotion entangles,
Setting fire to stage that surrounds me.
See this town as electric midnights
That strangle blackness from tonight.

Counting (day 978)

Let’s make it together slow, baby
…Tonight baby
Tonight’s the night
Turn the page into another.
A land of bitten numbers
And satellites florescent
If we watch together baby
If we watch the night together
Let’s make it together slow, baby
Tonight’s the night
Tonight’s the land of another
Where we will fall as numbers

With The Eagle (day 928)

The Eagle flies with me tonight
Around tall lean trees
The anger of cold winds
Flexing thunder in eyes of darkness
With whispers lightly tossed with Zeus’s talons

And I – with my cry – let fall great prey
Great beasts of ancient lineage
Who scream loud
When I soar near

I am gliding through torrents tonight
With the Eagle by my side
