Winter, where have you gone from me
Lost in the great thaw
Confusion melting all around
From your serene gentle cold heart
Keep me in a catacomb
A maze under the permafrost.
Winter, I remember days gone by
My mind shifts North: cloudy sky
Boiled water in a kettle old
Dried leaves in a mounding heart
Run over me, lost to darkness.
Night falls in quietening circles
Swiftly crawling away in crackles,
And my footsteps leave traces for
Two days more
Until it thaws.
Just as Helios had mounted high
Upon our valleys Eastern slope,
He chased birds as frost’s glove
So now we wait as new circles retreat
Into twilight’s thin air,
Blues to blacks
And a star lit map
Guides us forever home.
Enigmatic with a passion
Cool with desire
Fierce with a murmur
Alive with innocence
Tucked away like the cold and blue fingers
Neatly entombed by the dear winter’s frost
Humbly walking along the moist particles thaw
Glazed amongst the solid tear drops
