Fences (day 3124)

It would have made more sense
Had the locks been undone
But the height of the fence
Resisted the direction begun.

So the height was evaluated
Prospects were gathered
Witnesses were brought in
And a document was then signed.

Reduced then to tears
The paper found it’s owner
Lost in a myriad of fears
And a tall, tall fence to get over.

Thy Mount (day 3075)

My beacon holds the glow
That once stood atop the mount,
A formal cry of devilry
No subject left unexplored.

Thunderous and magnified
By the distant mounts so tall,
Open and expansive
I felt forever I could soar.

Now, suffice to say
I have left the peaks so high
To stumble as I make my ground
‘Midst roots and usnea.

Though I keep my eye so high
I watch Eagle soar,
Each and every morning I bid
Mount so high good morn.

So Goes and Wind (day 3071)

With my wind I have fallen in
With little tufts of grass
Whom stand so brave and tall
Against the snow, so cold.
I have blown across the whitescape
As light shades of brown
As dirt and ice that rip apart
The crisp memory of sun.
So goes the traces of my finger
Deep within the hallow
Sunken to my melting cheek bone
That grips against the snow.
So goes the sweet angel of my memory
Who has left me like a broken fire
That I have no more kindling for
Though I remember every splinter
That has sunken to my soul.

Empty and Deep (day 2943)

When I sung the rhythm I had heard
When I awoke to what my soul knew
I damaged my ending that grew so tall
Deepness I had lost so well
Closed a window, let go my hold.

When I walked so heavy footsteps
I yelled my name in vain
I sunk my teeth into giant fir
Wilting at the corners of
My jagged sharpened heart.

When I sat and stole two moments of
Silence gathering all around
I witnessed a closing balance
That took my mind away
Leaving me with ten thousand spaces
Previously occupied my mind
Held now for emptiness
No depth that I could feel remained.

How? (day 2931)

For I have seen the thunder roll around
And shaken my diamond soul
To ask my deepest memory
“What claims your open heart?”

For there could be no other purchase
About my ‘pinioned mind
Lost in a salary taken by choice
Denoted by the letter A.

Gathered here, then, stood three tall
Aghast from winter’s toil
Sorted by an ageless meter
Calmly asking: “How?”

At the Gates (day 2834)

For it was not the forgotten
The lost
Emancipated yet still beyond.
It cried in open grace
As ancient wisdom
Ran down it’s thriving face.
Ritual abided;
Nature presided.
Delicacy tingled
Down worthy veins
And touched what fettered lines
Could only whisper.
There it was;
Sunlight becoming
Brave, luminous, potent,
Crying for all that’s been lost
Yet standing tall
At the gates of judgement.

Awoken (day 2787)

My music had been lying
Unconscious and dramatized
– Callused time
All punishing –
To which an alarm woke
Each beast left inside
– Growling
They stood tall –
Two of them
Wore combat boots
The rest
Barefooted
Yelled at me
– I hardly
Heard a whisper –
And here I stood
Bespoke
Awoken to my rhyme

Mountain (day 2718)

When the leaves began to fall
You looked away again
Turned your head and said out loud
Mountain, why you growing so tall
But in the Autumn air
You blew the wild rivers afar
Into the foggy glens
Where the wild things went to sleep
But your so gentle feet
Touched not a rock upon the steep
Calling out to soothe each leaf
Cresting at the moon
For your harvest basket took you
From the meadow to the birch copse
To the little brook to cross
Where your harvest basket grew
But silently up so high
Mountain sighed and sighed
Why do you stay so far
Maiden from afar.
