Ground (day 2777)

I am the age of an ancient warrior
Inspect me from the ground
Grind my bones to dust around
That build you a new throne
Take me to Olympia
To seek ritual truth
Take me from the goats up high
To bury me in sound
Fashioned from steel and stones
Forever in the ground

Comfort In Your Eyes (day 2767)

There are diamonds
That glow amber
And your eyes
That shine brighter
Each star
Burning up
In the night sky
I’m looking at.

Big old pine trees
That tell of ancient
Mariners searching
For a lost fish
Out at sea
Every wave
Shakes each stone
By my feet.

Do you remember
How far the sun goes
Before it falls behind
That yonder hill
Take me over
To the pasture
I know no other
Calling home.

You’ve Got to Love What You Get (day 2670)

Sometimes it just doesn’t make sense
Sometimes you’ve got to love what you get
When rain falls, everyone gets a bit wet
And if the sun sets
You’ve got to get with what you can.

Like a lion’s roar
You’ve got to grab hold your charge
‘Till you’ve made it your own
Finding diamonds in stones
No one’s left out, no one’s left there behind
Not in a world where everyone shines.

So my mercy is an invitation
For your crop seed, perennially
Take it from me
Cause I was born here to bleed.

Sometimes it’s what you know how to do
Sometimes there’s not a question or clue
There’s an opening
Across the supporting beam
Made from the start
So you can give all your heart.

Flames in Your Eyes (day 2447)

C. A
I’m not saying to forget
F. C
To find someone new
C. A
I’m not here to remind you
F. C
That life isn’t true
F(dgbe). C
I’m not trying to be angry
G. C
Let the moon be blue

A. F
When the whirlwind comes
G. C
Let it run
A. C
When the skies of darkness
G. A. F. C. G. C
Are flames in your eyes

You have found me here
A few towns away
Not a stone’s throw
But a move down the line
F(dgbe). C
With you I belong
G C
Chair by your side

Can the ghosts we’ve seen
Be the lives we’ve had
When lives we’re having
Keep us on the move
F(dgbe). C
With wind in our face
G C
For we dance all night

Legion’s Strain (day 2338)

So at last our North Sea Queen
Had her legions taught and adept,
Lamenting heard from shore
Where the abandonned had gathered
Bow of the vessel was pointed – of course – due north
To icy depths the legion were bound.
Back and forth the North Sea Queen strolled
Eyeing her crew to weed out the weak
As if it were still needed
To strike fear into her warriors.
They had been trained and hardened
Against the coldest of stones
Heartless and dedicated and ruthless and cruel
And each one full willing to bend at request.
She dressed in pure blackness
A sign of her coldness
Around her neck was wrapped ten strands of silk
That had come from the deadly
In an act of submission,
Her boots were thigh high
Of dear Spanish leather
Stained by the hands of those who’d defied her,
Her coat long and dark that swept to the floor
Beneath she wore – dramatically expected –
A gown of black lace.
So it was the ship creaked and groaned
Under the weight of a legion’s strain
Bound by blood to following orders
With the North Sea blowing with fury
Home again, home again, row row row.

Two Shiny Stones (day 2317)

I got a letter from my soul today
Asked me where I had been staying
I shared about my secret lover
Said she couldn’t stay
I wept until my eyes bled ice
I shrunk into the sea
Where then to begin?
– Until my heart clouded winter
Lost into the sea –
I surfaced as two shiny stones
Held in one Danish hand
Wrapped in softness, unbeknownst
Settling beyond, over me.

Pocket Knife (day 2272)

A handy man should always have
A pocket knife by his side
No better friend in times of need
Could come to be at the ready
Rope was made for just the tool
So was whittling by the fire
And opening each bag of tools
Was fit just for that knife’s service.
Eager was the folding knife
Tucked away discreetly in thy pocket
So, then, was the fixed blade
Attached at a leather belt secure
To become of such valiant service.
For each man holds on to their tools
In which way feels right to them,
So no man shall defame a man
Who holds a knife at the ready
A handyman recognizes a good man
Who keeps a pocket knife ready for service.
But just as important for the handyman
A sharp blade makes one smile
A stone that keeps a blade able
For any task that rests at hand
No handyman should relax as if
Their blade be forever sharp
It is forever right that a handyman keep
Beside every dressing table to thy name
A handyman should keep right there
A handyman’s sharpening stone.

A Lazy Flower (day 2193)

I came upon a flower that I heard sing a sweet song
It lasted a whole day as I sat there upon a stone
Did you hear me coming?
Did I startle you?
I woke into a soft laid field buzzing of a wild abandon
My mind watched as it bobbed and hummed
A tune I came to love.
I hope my tear of joy didn’t startle you today
Though I tapped your tune onto my knee and whispered my goodbye
As day came on to call my hand
Home I sent away.

Resonant Romance (day 2173)

You’ve become the edge of resonance
Reason I’ve forgot my chance
I’ve begged you once before
Now I’ll scratch down that door
Original seduction going on
Through and through my veins
Dancing down a hall of reverence
This is a heart attack, baby
This is our last romance.

So you sat there guiding me home
From the head, a Priestess’ chair
Booming towards climax on
A loudspeaker of ancient worship
Cold stones on my wishing knees
Like a glass of white wine
Condensation on my mind
And the moon breaks through calmly
Resonating through halls of a silent home.
