Crow (day 2918)

Restless and crow
Through eyes of Black
Long hair and a ruksack
With endless in tune
Trees in the night sky
Bridge by firelight
Morning in song
Murdered and wrong
Trying again to make friends
Crow and eleven
Mind here big step
Forward and lurching.

In Thought (day 2880)

My mind has become jagged
A Cliff with one soaring Eagle
Circling around and around
Just beyond eyesight.

Little plants grow here
Barely hanging onto life
Grasping what little Soil
Has fallen between the Rocks.

Barely does a Thought stay
For it’s brother begs attention
Ruthlessly asking for my step
Dare I not pass his way.

So here I step gingerly
Trepid and disoriented
Glancing above me, evermore
Dare I lose a thought.

Path (day 2874)

I didn’t open up the pages
To find you dying alone here
I woke my warrior
In day steps, dreamily
Dancing to a beat
Of ten thousand drums
Upon my back and shoulders
Remind me of my ancestors
Who never had a chance
Reminding me of my heritage
That grew up too quick
Reminding me that I am a warrior
No matter which path I tread upon
For it is not the footsteps
That lead a path away
It is a heart that leads the footsteps
Upon a path so virtuous
Making freedom a deeper thing
Truth of unimaginable expanse
And I am there, animated
A page I forever open
To step my beating heart
This path I know is mine.

Ode to a Hard Worker (day 2659)

Your work
Inspires my work;
Your effort
Inspires my effort.
Take lead and know
Each your step
Hold mountains;
Each your effort
Hold us all together
Like no other
Force or method,
Like no other
Example of literature;
Exceeding all expectations
And leading us our way
Into a tomorrow
We shall all
Be the better
Thereof
From your today example
From your today hard work.

Tenderly (day 2621)

Where has this beat departed to
– Crunching and releasing
In spite variable dependencies
Hovering dangerously close to the rubbish bin.
Can one lose this beat
So memorised by thy heart,
Yet so fragile by thy touch?
Step soundly, leave not noise
To disrupt this chemical
Leave a smile so tenderly placed
Wings of a falling leaf
Pause to embrace.

Overwhelm (day 2620)

This is the feeling of overwhelm:
Two days of rain and projects building up,
Floor bound when flight’s on,
Time to readdress.
This short story takes turns
Down a windy road
With frequent signs of introspection
No matter how many steps to the top.
Self imposed time crunch
Rehearses for none
Though all week long there’s been impending stops
Leaking through the roof.
How frequent doth thou mind relook
Over building plans and agreed terms,
Dollar signs and debits.
And when nighttime comes,
Hard day’s toil leaves sleep slow
When the cold wind blows ever nearer
The open window of deception.

Healing Song (day 2501)

I played along a pathway
That led me to a gate
Two dogs awaited for my step
Took me far away
I stood upon a lookout perch
Vista in front of me
Here I fell into reverie
Lost in a sea of thought.

Pains that touched me
Held my hand
Cried at me in vain
Smoked me down atop that perch
Led me to my spot
For which I had been looking for
For which I had to stop.

My two dogs heard me
Which took me away again
They licked at the new wounds
I hadnt properly healed
They said to me that all in time
I’d learn to caress again
So there I lay upon the clay
One hand before my very heart
Singing the song I had to start.

Slow Tune or Jangle (day 2481)

I’m going to split myself into unending characters
That rasp along to a slow tune or jangle
Waiting for a sunset slip – in to make me better
I said carry me away!
With something dragging behind I needn’t care for
Lurching, weaving, my staggered step keeps leaving
Why did it ever matter that this meaning had punctuation
Drawling leftover party pleaser at midnight
Taken too much sugar glitter!
And Madonna playing quietly as gamblers swing their weight
With a pretty little dancer making eyes across the room
I am endeavoring to depart, avoiding unnecessary chatter
Closing out this night as a single dusty platter.

Our Daily Step (day 2433)

Ask yourself questions of thy soul:
Those of pith
That require no translation
When repeated backwards to the mind,
Those that break you down
To your very foundation
Whereby upon rebuilding
A new found power exists.
Are you inside enough?
Building virtue like an Olympian
Sweating breaks down the truth.
Ask these questions of thy soul
Until blood of our deepest toil
Stains the back of our lively dance,
And reverberates from the weight
Of our daily step.
