Pale Roses (day 2819)

And today I shall lay here
Covered in pale roses
Trying to remember
What I could never hold on to
For it has slipped
It has risen from my clutches
To escape into thin air
Like landscapes turning seasons
And wind carrying seeds
It has shifted
And now it is I
Left here invincible
Carrying these pale roses
With nothing but a dry, empty vase
Crystalline.

Angels (day 2808)

I took a cut out of ancient Seed
Planted for two mouths
Carrying my load
I walked into
Cave, so darkened now.
When I stood bare,
Face to face
With Angel who knew my name
Who asked me only one question
To learn how I had came,
To which I remarked:
I shall not remain
Only I shall wear your mark.
She then held me
And we shared all
And I became her name.

Once Seed (day 2771)

Rage at the antics talking heads play
Forced to surrender, no other way
Lost is ancient, history’s gone
For a game of dollars, enemy’s way
Has taken our diversity
Plants natural genome
Genetically modified, organic no more
Infecting, irreversible turned our seed
Unrecognized, sterile, stale,
Yet to talking heads playing games
A patent awaits the honeybees bum
To take from the farmer lands that his hands
Have nurtured and worked,
Life giving no more.

To William Lee (day 2719)

I know why you ran so far away
Not a scene could do for you
The world rambled some unfathomable blithe
And your vision clouded from contempt
Ever growing greed – lost seed
Lemonade stinking in the shade
Yellow circle glasses and a leftover jacket
Naked in soggy rows of an everglade.

I would also run away to the other side
Liberties are assumed and everybody’s ruined
And each land war is solved with a knife.
I would carry on in my inevitable way
No job calling me to pay taxes aside
Just like a hooker in the park and dark lines on her eyes
With a leather jacket man stopping by again
A bag in his hand and a promising grin;
Feeling empty again, night’s unwavering sin.

Though I tell ya William, I wouldn’t have shot the gun
I wouldn’t have taken aim again,
Party tricks and everyone’s looks
Southern games that nobody wins
Makes a man lost into the void.
But if you’d ask me to sing you a son.
Don’t expect it to sound like something you’d want to hear,
I’ll build and collapse and spit at it too
But that’s the price we pay, damn it every day.

Vine (day 2571)

What becometh of thy games we played
Sleepless in thy night
A distant glow of heart remains
Shall find me at thy shore
Take me to thy potters wheel
Forgive me for a skeptics mind
I’m always on thy vine
And in the richness of a students heart
In the hour of thy test
Plant thy seed to sow this heart
Grapejuice upon our hands.

Fallen / Left (day 2553)

I could be falling over you,
Knocked down by time
Left here to wind my way
About books and seeds
And burnt candles
Handled by delicate hands
To the tune of Chopin
Rustling pages of a score
Over aged ivory keys
On a wooden floor
Showing signs of nostalgia
In gray and white carvings,
Had I known any better.

Apples (day 2538)

I dream of an apple that comes in many varieties
One so diverse it can only be spoken of in gutteral movements
So loud it can hardly be swallowed
And so vivacious that even clowns turn their heads and stare.
And when this apple has bent down low,
A bounty shall follow as nectar flow
Fruitful seeds spread in spring rains
Cracking open splendor of new mirth;
Of each crunchy bite
A heart of gold emerges
Pallette of sacred union
As a cider by the fire.

Unknown Seeds (day 2521)

Pointed shoes and unknown teams
Wizards of unknown degrees
Who fall in line with questionable ranks,
Lawless rascals and witnesses

When the song returns to its true tune
Coyotes howl at the full moon
Without truth to be defending
Sprawling out amongst bullfrogs dancing

Does the rhythm carry itself
Between trees of varying thickness?
Through the trails amongst the seeds,
Down the hill and into the distance.
