Taken

What takes you away?
What brings the lines
From bowels to forehead,
And understands nothing
Of what’s seen before you?

What holds you
Like a scarf on a cold subway
Clicking away
In a nice rattle
Of destination approaching?

What holds time so still
That a lifetime is lived
Experienced
Played
And given
With a softly exhaled breath
Standing atop
Naked and pointed?

What holds you steady
So that even rainbows don’t move
As you traverse this landscape
Narrowly escaping
A landslide of memories
Nobody told you to write down?

In Faith (day 3028)

And with that instance
I have faith to believe
That you forever astound
Each so liquid crystals
Running my core being free
And a heart
That limits no boundary
Accompanying no symphony
– Though music shrouds all around –
Given the magnitude
And settled
At the base of this rainbow
In full faith
And a tall effort
Emptying this vessel
For yet another day
Towards the space
That has always been right here.

Rent (day 2758)

A rainbow has landed by my chair
Two shades clearer than yesteryear:
Many cuts more the wiser.
And to my right there burns a fire
So emotive I saw the sun
That held me up as rain came down
Floundered in the far off field.
Then in the soup I had not made
But sat down to enjoy
I sang a song of lucky chance
Though no hardship saved my rent.

Reverie (day 2579)

I fell into a reverie that had me holding on to rainbows I thought had melted away in the rain
But my leaflets floated warily through the sea
And a mountain of opportunity opened up for me with every tree I sow
That embarked rather hastily from the peak that had the view
Though growing rather rapidly was the darkness of dusk
My fingertips lay naked tracing out the fortress in Manitowaning that climbed into a canoe with a paddle and good cheer
Listening to a song she heard floating up from reverie
Then down she plunged the great paddle that took her off upon the lake
And off towards the campfire of what’s after sweet embrace of reverie.

To Proceed (day 2488)

I’ve been wondering what the curve of your hips feels like
Watching it sway about the room from my perch
While I lazily ignore the whims of this busy world
Taking you away from me now.
I reach out at every chance I get, of course,
A squeeze that so leaves me enchanted…
And of our conversation while your rainbow of smells
Fill my soul with emotions and memories,
Yet filled with rich vibrancy of time,
That I’ve been counting from me to you
Like flowers in a sunny, afternoon stroll
Through a field that makes me jealous
(Holding memories it so caresses)
Where my feet find sturdy ground to proceed.
