Embers of Your Heart (day 3085)

I wanted to climb into the embers of your heart so badly
That I wrote your name in ink ten times
And spoke to the Gods the colour of your eyes.
Your hair bound me in embrace,
And when I took my breath back inside my soul
It was your braided hair with its loose end
That was my direction home.

Each peak of the surrounding alps pinched the crisp air
So vividly, so clearly, that the tingling
Felt within my altitude heart
Brought a reverie so daring and honest
That even the Sun began to expose a pathway
Leading from my very spot to your omnipresent aura
I could feel beside my soul.

Various shades of darkness rode the wave of mystery
Deep within the bowels of a murky and eerie call,
And the source of each ripple floating outward
Seemed to be the very depth of my footsteps forth
Enticed by my soul belief that your chasm,
Your pulsating organ of electric arcs
Was my guiding orb I could see
Even as I swallowed water as breath
And traced the silhouetted branches
That floated above my remaining thoughts.

Thy Mount (day 3075)

My beacon holds the glow
That once stood atop the mount,
A formal cry of devilry
No subject left unexplored.

Thunderous and magnified
By the distant mounts so tall,
Open and expansive
I felt forever I could soar.

Now, suffice to say
I have left the peaks so high
To stumble as I make my ground
‘Midst roots and usnea.

Though I keep my eye so high
I watch Eagle soar,
Each and every morning I bid
Mount so high good morn.

Golden Sunrise (day 2973)

Golden sunrise
Crossed my eyes
Spoke to me in a language
I’ve only heard
Amidst the trees.
When my vision
Reached its peak
Audible and tangible
I knew my day
Had just begun.
So as the crow flies
Back and forth
I wobbled through my daily mirth
Stuck inside my sunrise
With soup and spoon
And steeping tea.

Peak (day 2717)

Take me longer than I thought I could
For the land has gone sailed away
With a white breasted Blue Jay
Met two deer who could not stay
So I took a queue and found my way
To the highest peak on this day
That left me wondering if I would sway
For no ghost here could say
And I, left wondering in circles chewing hay
With two doctors who wouldn’t pay
A penny more for sasquachaway

Those Trees (day 2524)

What trees came out of here?
What harm has been done before
How could we have ever saved you
Ten thousand miles away?
Chainsaws and axes thrown
Into your hearts of gold
Good soil twisted off again
Broken away and shipped beyond
Pretending another way.

Darkness returns in your future’s growth
Overstory large and bark
Grabbing at a curious mind
Peaks and valleys roughening
Softening along the floor
Moss returns again.

Climb that Mountain (day 1944)

Ahoy, good friends! Tis’ I come home
From a land I loved, I must say
Far off, quite far, several days
Generous fellows called it Rome
With marvelous peaks and glorious domes!
But with every step, the whole way
So many places I just could not stay
Something missing I was never shown.

Then one day who did I see?!
A friend I’d lost, nearly forgot
Lost in thought in a bubbling fountain
For me was worth bounds of glee
For all at once came a quite clear thought
Go home, remember, and climb that mountain.
