Moon And By Sun

I am drained of life
Though calming gray Moon
Shines full into my vision.

My mornings wake
With such vast opportunity
Yet I slouch my way
Into an odyssey;
Blurring noises
From Nature’s highway
Busy outside my open window.

This tea alerts me
It brings my senses
Towards the front of my tongue
So that I can find my voice
Rescued from the deep depths
Of a tortuous night.

And here, upon my tongue
A caress felt within my memory
Time spent in my youth
Unabided,
For Spring spirit in Summer Sun
Reaches no Plymouth too soon,
And this warm milk and honey
Resting on my lips
Shall be enveloped by
Moon and by Sun.

Distinct Jumps of the Mind (day 3076)

My mind wanders around
The curves of your soul
So that it jumps and jetters
Like a rusted automobile
Lurching and squeaking,
Solid and heavy
With a distinct perseverance
Against the constant decay
Time always tests.
But it always returns
To the same parking spot,
Slightly encroached upon
By the wild weeds of nature
Also hanging on strong,
So that home is known
And the whispers of water
Flow from my soul to yours
In the dull gray of the road
On the dull gray of the wheel.

Ode to My Future Dog (day 3060)

You little rascal,
You little gem,
Thanks for turning around for me.
Thanks for spending your waking hours
Nipping at my heals,
For your companionship,
Your loving nature,
Your time each day as we watch the sun
Folds away the mysteries
That work their way inside our heads
Like the folds of skin so stretching
Upon the neck of your growing being.
My friend, my partner,
Hello in there,
Thank you for sharing with me.

Singing (day 3058)

I am trying to get it to sing to me
Willing it with my mind
And even as I sit here calm
I wonder how long it will remain.

No sound do I dare make
For fear that it should be startled
On its mind, no doubt instinctual
Hunting for its food.

I listen to the night sky pass
My heart and orbs of light
My mind full of nature’s song
I hope it will remain.

Accompanying Nature (day 2991)

I took a step into the forest
So wild and carefully
Paying attention to my every breath
And my ever so lightly step
I heard the sounds of a singing bird
One that wasn’t afraid of me
I heard the songs of swaying trees
Gently cackling at me
As I moved my view became
Biased uncontrollably
For I had become to see life as
Accompanying nature’s needs.

Shut Down (day 2929)

It is hard to know
When to shut down,
When to turn away
From this machine.
One becomes
All consumed,
All stuck on the tool.
But then,
At long last,
A little inkling
Draws one on away,
Like warming of a fire
To take to rest
To take to work
To take the mind
To physical
And find what has been lost
Out on the ground
Nature’s finest mess
A bivy full of uncharted.

Throat of Life (day 2847)

Wind is howling through this house
Like inescapable tombs of our past
Flesh biting flesh
Wrapped with fabric so dusty it crumbles.

Yet in open webs I can still see through
Nostalgia hits an ancient bone
That even her subtle breath of wind
Finds it hard to escape duty of.

Slowly eyelids close as raspy sun strokes,
A dying ember reminds us each
That our throat of life
Calms the day’s very nature.

Antiquity (day 2530)

Beyond the stairs we walked along
Beneath the wheel’s remains
The old Mill House, past Balmoral Lane
Antiquity remains.

I couldnt quite find a reason
To stop you, a look into your eyes
A wheeping heart we thought we spied
So luminous and full.

A plan developed in my mind
A gift of nature’s surprise
So I picked the lovely heart
And gave you my dear prize.
