Sworn (day 2781)

I don’t want you to remember me
When you see daylight searching
Over twilight’s shoulder,
I want birds to scream bloody murder
Through their washed out faces
Long callused like knots
Grown out from tree trunks.
I want you to document my every step
That lives deep in the mud
Like you would document a nightmare
Scared of even breathing
For danger it would incite the demon
You most feared.
I don’t want you to remember me
For in your memory, icy cold
Shall rest my name, sworn.

Dancing Song (day 2453)

Weave for me two glasses of wine
I’ve sat here long enough to know
Two shakes of it that’s always good
Dance with me a little jig
To the circus show down River Road
To knee high grass, fields afar
Through frosty fire escapes above
That keep this city awake at night
Jamboree, say you’ll marry me
‘Tis right we speak so open free
For when the moon says good day again
We’ll switch to gin and carry on
I like your style, your silver hair
It makes me think of icy air
Get right close so to swing
This dancing song floats us along

Dark Gates (day 2337)

In that moment the suitor realized
He had made a dire mistake
Misjudged an ear for kindness
A soul for humanness
Misunderstood dark gates
And silent patience
As partner to his own heart.
He lay there spent, exhausted
Given as if fire: burnt
Yet still she craved for more,
Yearned for more,
Asked for more, yelled for more,
Of which he had none left.
She reared her head like a wild stallion
Naked at the breast
Flushed with rage and rapid coldness
She grabbed her icy dagger
No choice but to accept the sentence;
Suitor was no more.
