Moon And By Sun

I am drained of life
Though calming gray Moon
Shines full into my vision.

My mornings wake
With such vast opportunity
Yet I slouch my way
Into an odyssey;
Blurring noises
From Nature’s highway
Busy outside my open window.

This tea alerts me
It brings my senses
Towards the front of my tongue
So that I can find my voice
Rescued from the deep depths
Of a tortuous night.

And here, upon my tongue
A caress felt within my memory
Time spent in my youth
Unabided,
For Spring spirit in Summer Sun
Reaches no Plymouth too soon,
And this warm milk and honey
Resting on my lips
Shall be enveloped by
Moon and by Sun.

Dreamer (day 3064)

I am a late night dreamer.
I walk the streets
With parallel universes
On repeat amidst my thoughts,
So that each turn I make
Runs parallel to my intentions
On a highway of bright lights
Though sun has long been down.
Yet I roam here
With eyes baked in sugar
That envision it all,
Right down to the first footsteps
That I know very well
Will wake me up tomorrow.
I roam here so that I can awake
With a mind full of race horses
Excited in a freshly opened pasture
Of my tomorrow which I am now
In tonight as a late night dreamer.

A Path (day 3016)

I wish for you to empty out
Each basket holding you back
So that the path from you to me
Could speedily find you at.
Not tangled like a natures saunter;
Not alarming like a highway;
Tender like a flower garden
A single track runs through
Worn raw to expose the soil
Frequent use and travel;
A favourite tree along the way
Picked and always greeted;
A bush that stands so proud and full
For one sweet season of the sun;
And at last the view of me to you
A happy moment dearly awaited
Greeting from an open door
Opened at my very soul.

Highway Signs (day 2960)

It pains me that I cannot unleash my soul
And that it sits here, adoring and alive.
It rocks back and forth with comforting movement
Yet lost.
Purple and blue blinking lights
Reminding me of life late at night
That is more or less lost
On a highway road with dull signs
Still too far away to recognize,
So home is yet to become
The place I’m heading for.

Lost and Blurred (day 2925)

The road lost me here
Too many turns
And too many good songs
Singing to me
Through four speakers
And four tweeters.
Windows rolled down
To Day’s hot wind,
Never able to escape
Sun’s firey glare.
My eyes dazed
On Highway’s glaze,
And your arms
Never quite let go
As I looked on, after you
Departing in flesh
But long from forgotten.
And the good songs
Carry on
Over my Mind’s hum
Blurring the wheels
Passing me on by.

Early Morning Whispers (day 2295)

Whisper as we sit here free
Cold wind on my mind
You’re at my side
Horizon of the great lakes
About two days it takes
Mind buzzing
Early morning dew drops
Shaken wearily free
Trucks a roaring
And we’re forever free
Two eyes on the highway
Two eyes dangerously weaving bullets
Through clouds slowly gathering
Dancing at the starlight
Early morning fog lights
Wake me slowly
With whispers only for me
Wake me with whispers set me free.

Alberta (day 2294)

Alberta, I’ll be seeing you again
A hundred days of traveling
And your straight lines take me home
Past the Rockies and badlands
Let me feel you go
Highway I drive with you in mind
Takes me longer in your thundering hips
Alberta, I’ll be seeing you again
I’ll be tasting your water down a stream so cold
I’ll be passing your elk with a yearning I’ll miss
Past a lover I’m really not going to call
And city signs I don’t call home anymore
Alberta, I’ll be seeing you again.

Raindrops off Rooftops (day 2104)

Please don’t take my feeling
Down another empty highway
Like raindrops off rooftops
I’ve been splashing my dreams
All over you, girl.

I’ve found these dotted lines
With my blossoming feeling
As windshield blades swipe clean
My fogging dream, girl
Sweet reverie.

Silhouettes take my eye drops
Far from my Cadillac lollipops
Another roadhouse streetlamp
Flickering hope, girl
I’m taking the next pullout.

Feel in it; another crooked street
Turn me on with a vibrant song
Shake me by a gravity stick
Boom ba-da-boom-boom
And my song goes on.

You Used To (day 2063)

When you used to sing me songs
I was James Dean and you were love
And wind flowed through our hair
Past a highway sign that read: ‘see ya later’.

When you used to run your hand
Across the front summertime chest
I’d look you up and down
Until we’d both run all round.

When you called me that last time
I was a million miles away
There was static playing on every line
And my voice was in a tin can.

Now, when you come to my mind
You’ve still got those wild daises in your hand
Your smile is the size of the sun
Where we’ve both just begun.
